Safari link tracking can no longer be disabled

You can read the specification from the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG). Hyperlink auditing is added to a web page via the ping attribute on an HTML anchor element (<a>), i.e., a link. [...] Notice that when you hover over the "Ping Me" link, you only see the href URL, you don't see the ping URL, so you don't even know that the attribute exists unless you look at the HTML page source. When you click the link, it loads the page http://lapcatsoftware.com/ as expected. But it also sends an HTTP POST request to http://underpassapp.com/ without any visible indication to the user. You can only see it if you do a packet trace. It should come as no surprise that the primary usage of hyperlink auditing is for tracking of link clicks. [...] Firefox disables hyperlink auditing by default, as explained in a knowledge base article. You can see this if you open about:config and look at browser:send_pings. [...] Prior to Safari 12.1, you could disable hyperlink auditing with a hidden preference: ``` defaults write com.apple.Safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2HyperlinkAuditingEnabled -bool false ``` Unfortunately, this no longer works in Safari 12.1. [...] I've been informed that chrome://flags#disable-hyperlink-auditing is now missing from the Google Chrome betas, even though it still exists in the current non-beta version. The flag was removed from the source code a little over a month ago. ___ E' interessante come anche prima della rimozione, per disabilitare questo tracciamento dovevi A) sapere che c'era B) usare tool "avanzati". E tanto via JS il server può fare lo stesso. Si chiama "Insecurity through Obscurity". Ed è uno standard! Potremmo chiedere un parere alla commissione etica del WHATWG! EDPS investigates contractual agreements concerning software used by EU institutions

Regulation 2018/1725 introduced significant changes to the rules governing outsourcing. Contractors now have direct responsiblities when it comes to ensuring compliance. However, when relying on third parties to provide services, the EU institutions remain accountable for any data processing carried out on their behalf. They also have a duty to ensure that any contractual arrangements respect the new rules and to identify and mitigate any risks. It is with this in mind that the contractual relationship between the EU institutions and Microsoft is now under EDPS scrutiny.” [...] It is in this spirit of cooperation that the EDPS takes note of the Data Protection Impact Assessment Report on diagnostic data in Microsoft Office ProPlus of 5 November 2018, commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. Any EU institutions using the Microsoft applications investigated in this report are likely to face similar issues to those encountered by national public authorities, including increased risks to the rights and freedoms of individuals.

US Cloud platforms potentially incompatible with GDPR

The Dutch government recently concluded this and the Swedish National Procurement Service published, just last month, a pre-study report about Cloud based office platforms. [...] “The permitted purpose of surveillance under E.O. 12333 is quite broad, encompassing all activities and intentions of non-U.S. persons. This broad authority has resulted in broad surveillance programs, including ‘Co-Traveler’, through which the U.S. captured billions of location updates daily from mobile phones around the world, and ‘Muscular’, through which the NSA intercepted all data transmitted between certain Google and Yahoo! data centers outside the U.S.” [...] “We are particularly concerned with the possible disclosure by data brokers to governmental entities of metadata which, if sought by the government directly from a communications service provider, could not be disclosed to governmental entities without legal process.” [...] “De-anonymization techniques that can identify individuals by efficiently combining increasing large volumes of digital data” [...] “The extent of the government’s use of its surveillance authorities to target journalists, dissidents, and others not engaged in wrongdoing is not known. Nor is it publicly known whether surveillance of such individuals represents a significant portion of the government’s foreign intelligence surveillance efforts.” [...] Giovanni Buttarelli, European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), stated in a recent interview: “At the moment there is too much power in the hands of a few mega tech companies and governments. We need to decentralise the internet, give more power to people over their digital lives. Engineers have a valid voice but they need to be part of a conversation with lawyers, ethicists, experts from the humanities. IPEN, our initiative, seeks to do this.”

2 students accused of jamming school's Wi-Fi network to avoid tests

Molto educativo: si denunciano due ragazzini invece di licenziare l'amministratore di sistema. http://www.wbrz.com/news/2-students-accused-of-jamming-school-s-wi-fi-netwo… Authorities say two northern New Jersey boys successfully crashed their high school's Wi-Fi network on multiple occasions to get out of taking exams. The two Secaucus High School freshmen are charged with computer criminal activity and conspiracy. Authorities say the 14-year-olds used an app or a computer program to compromise the network, and apparently took requests from other students to bring it down.
