Da “utopia di condivisione democratica” a “strumento di controllo e covo di criminali” «La ferita provocata da una parola non guarisce» cita il proverbio africano riferimento del progetto di sensibilizzazione contro l’ostilità delle parole in Rete. Internet dà la parola a tutti, anche a «legioni di imbecilli» (cfr. Umberto Eco), e permette che le idee dei suoi utenti, senza distinzione di classe, educazione e ceto sociale, vengano condivise e trasmesse senza filtri. Le “parole ostili” feriscono tutti, vip e poveracci; d’altra parte la Rete è sempre stata un grande equalizzatore. Ciò ha vantaggi e svantaggi. Una cosa è certa però, non è della Rete la colpa dell’ostilità che affiora: forse dell’ignoranza di chi si esprime, forse dell’ipocrisia di chi manipola e condiziona l’opinione pubblica, forse di chi è ormai tanto abituato a falsificare la conoscenza per aizzare il pubblico contro i propri nemici, che la verità gli sembra una bufala. E, viceversa, molte bufale diventano tanto condivise e date per certe da diventare verità incontestabili. Le parole ostili, a volte, hanno fondamento nell’ostilità dei comportamenti di chi le denuncia. E se una parola ferisce, certi comportamenti assassinano, letteralmente, chi non ha strumenti per difendersi. Oggi forse gli si vorrebbe levare anche la voce ai cittadini per denunciare. Non è colpa della Rete se i governi comunicano ai cittadini informazioni distorte o false, in nome di una malintesa Ragion di Stato. Non è colpa della Rete se i potenti sentono crollare il velo di ipocrisia che accompagna la loro posizione sociale. Non è colpa della Rete se la voce dei popolani non è tanto adorabile quanto farebbe comodo a chi li vessa. Non è colpa della Rete se la Giustizia è lenta e prende decisioni che contrastano col senso comune. Oggi la Rete è molto diversa da quella che i più fortunati tra noi hanno conosciuto fin dall’inizio; la fisiologia di chi capiva e si sentiva la Rete è ormai morta, l’estromissione automatica di stupidi e vandali non è più praticata, ed anche le semplici regole di buon senso e buona educazione che esistevano non funzionano più. In alcuni casi, si è anche assistito ad un ribaltamento delle prerogative peculiari della Rete. L’identificazione forzata degli utenti operata dai Social Network e dai fornitori di comunicazioni rende la Rete funzionale al controllo sociale più che alla condivisione della conoscenza. Nei paesi in cui le difese democratiche sono più deboli non stupisce che il potere “dimentichi” di tutelare chi lo mette in crisi. Sono sotto il mirino i giornalisti freelance, i tecnologi e i ricercatori delle tecnologie della liberazione, gli attivisti della libertà di espressione su Internet, i cypherpunk, le Cassandre e i cani da guardia dei diritti umani digitali. Abbiamo quindi ascoltato parole ostili più contro la Rete che per la Rete, e per questo, anche con una retrospettiva storica, la XXI edizione di e-privacy sarà un’edizione speciale a sostegno della libertà di espressione e contro l’odio e la sopraffazione nella e sulla Rete. Il convegno Sin dal 2002 ad e-privacy si sono confrontate le tematiche di un mondo sempre più digitale ed interconnesso, nel quale le possibilità di comunicazione ed accesso alla conoscenza crescono continuamente, come pure crescono le possibilità di tecnocontrollo degli individui sin nei più intimi dettagli. L’approccio è interdisciplinare; dagli specialisti in informatica ai legali che si occupano di nuove tecnologie, dagli psicologi agli educatori, dagli operatori privati a quanti operano nel settore pubblico ed istituzionale. Le proposte d'intervento Verranno prese in considerazione anche proposte su temi diversi da quello dell'edizione, purché di interesse e di attualità. Il comitato organizzatore valuterà proposte in ambito tecnologico, legale, istituzionale e giurisprudenziale, delle scienze sociali, della filosofia, dell'informatica e dell'attivismo digitale, della privacy, della non-discriminazione, della sorveglianza e dei diritti civili digitali. Gli interventi Gli interventi saranno effettuati dal vivo e, previo consenso dei relatori, registrati in audio ed in video. I relatori potranno utilizzare documenti, slide o filmati, e gli interventi dovranno avere una durata compresa fra 15 e 45 minuti, incluso il tempo per Q&A. Potranno essere proposti anche interventi in videoconferenza. È apprezzata la disponibilità del relatore a concedere la pubblicazione del materiale prodotto e delle riprese dell’intervento sotto licenza libera. L'organizzazione Al fine di mantenere la propria indipendenza, il convegno è, come sempre, a budget zero.
