Or stumbled over a something that was ugly as hell but just did exactly what you wanted? Ever wondered how these factors work together, and how they influence the experiences we create? Product usability and aesthetics are coexistent, but they are not identical. In this talk I will give you an overview over existing research in this field and present the latest findings that show how usability, aesthetics and affect work together to create great - or not so great - experiences. About Javier Javier Bargas-Avila holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and works as Senior User Experience Researcher & Manager at Google (Switzerland). Before joining Google he was the manager of the HCI lab at the University of Basel (Switzerland) from 2004 to 2011. He published over 20 peer reviewed papers in HCI journals and conferences covering topics such as user satisfaction, mental models in website perception, first visual impression of websites or webform usability. Since 2011 he is part of the YouTube UX research team, where he currently focuses on internationalization, monetization and analytics. Specialties: user studies, usability studies, user experience, experimental studies, cognitive psychology, online surveys, online experiments, user satisfaction, web form usability, aesthetics, usability.

abrogazione implicita?

Ripropongo un tema che ho già sollevato qualche giorno fa, ma sta continuando a creare dubbi interpretativi. Da più parti infatti è stato sollevato un dubbio sulla vigenza dell'art. 51 r.d. 1369/42. La norma non è mai stata oggetto di abrogazione esplicita, tuttavia essa fa parte di un CAPO V intitolato "Diritto demaniale" e dunque contenente le norme di attuazione di tale diritto. Inoltre l'art. 51 è rubricato come "Art. 175 della legge 633/41", dunque si pone espressamente come norma di attuazione di tale articolo. Il decreto legge n. 669 del 1996, art. 6, co. 4 (convertito in legge n. 30 del 1997) ha espressamente abolito il diritto demaniale ed esplicitamente abrogato gli articoli 175 e 176 della legge 633/41. Ne conseguirebbe (a rigor di logica e a rigor di principi fondamentali del diritto) l'abrogazione implicita di tutte le norme attuative del diritto demaniale tra cui appunto anche l'articolo 51. Il problema ha causato in rete un acceso dibattito dovuto al fatto che SIAE sul suo sito diffonde un testo coordinato e consolidato del regoalmento che invece mantiene gli articoli 51 e 55 (entrambi del CAPO V) come ancora vigenti. Al contrario, fonti autorevoli come il Codice del diritto d'autore curato dal Professor Ubertazzi e il sito Medialaws danno come interamente abrogato il CAPO V. La Censura 2.0. Trasmissione su Radio Radicale, ore 19 e 45 di ogni domenica.

Cari Colleghi, se non avete di meglio da fare alle 19 e 45 di questoggi, potreste voler ascoltare la trasmissione in onda su Radio Radicale dal titolo Censura 2.0, che si occuperà delle moderne forme di censura sul web ad opera di organizzazioni pubbliche e private. Si tratta della prima puntata di una trasmissione dal titolo presi per il web che andrà in onda ogni domenica alle 19, 45 e che è condotta dal sottoscritto, da Marco Scialdone e Marco Perduca. Open data a scuola: T4T 2013 Dip. Informatica Università di Torino

Buongiorno a tutti, segnalo e prego diffondere la seconda edizione del Workshop Teachers for teachers, T4T-2013, che la commissione "Didattica dell'informatica nelle scuole" del Dipartimento di Informatica dell'Università di Torino organizza il 23 e 24 settembre prossimi. L'iniziativa è gratuita ed il suo programma si trova in rete sul sito del Workshop http://t4t.di.unito.it/. T4T è pensato per insegnanti di ogni livello e tipo di scuola: si articola in una mattina di presentazioni in aula, cui seguono varie unità svolte interamente in laboratorio. A seconda delle esigenze di ciascun partecipante, è possibile frequentare le unità selettivamente (anche una sola) oppure seguendo percorsi che si articolano in più unità. Roma, 4-6 ottobre, W3C, "Internet Identity Eco-system Seminar"

In particular, this workshop wants to investigate the emergence and expansion of the "identity marketplace." and focusing on its implications and consequences on the economy and shifting relationships of power. During the last few years, the Internet economy has mainly developed using a business model that offers services for free to the end users, but at the same time creates profits by aggregating, exchanging, and selling personal data with implications on the users' privacy and digital rights. The principal purpose of this work is to develop a common background for understanding the new forms of production and valorisation based on the Internet. In particular, this workshop wants to investigate the emergence and expansion of the the new identity marketplace and focus on both the social and economic implications. The huge financial and technical resources needed for the worldwide processing, and managing of such a massive amount of personal information, leads naturally to the formation of global oligopolies. For example, already the internet is increasingly dominated by a small number of platforms: Google controls nearly 82% of the global search market and 98% of the mobile search market, Facebook is dominates over 90% of social networking, and Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft dominant the mobile market and cloud-based services platforms. Given this trajectory, it seems that the new identity eco-system will also likely globally be dominated by a single company or handful of competitors. Another possibility is state intervention, but so far this has not been forthcoming, although it has been revealed that state intelligence agencies like the NSA have been gathering vast amounts of personal data. Due to the complexity of the internet and the emerging identity ecosystem, much analysis so has been limited to specific disciplinary backgrounds. We are facing the difficulty of grasping this pervasive system in an holistic way where the actors involved in the production and shaping of this system (such as developers, hackers, and designers), often perceive only a very limited role, while those who develop socio-economic approaches do not understand the technical details. This initiative aims at activating a process of recomposition of subjectivities from various disciplines that will raise awareness of the stakes of the political economy of the Internet, resulting in a common vision that can lead to the creation of a constituency to work on awareness, rights, claims, self-governance issues, and technical standards: the kind of work necessary in order to preserve an open multi-stakeholder governance in the new identity eco-system.
