Juan Carlos, grazie per questa segnalazione. Ha attirato molto la mia attenzione questa affermazione: The implications of such a decision would be profound. Web and mobile companies will live or die not on the merits of their technology and design, but on the deals they can strike with AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, and others. This means large phone and cable companies will be able to “shakedown” startups and established companies in every sector, requiring payment for reliable service. Ebbene questa situazione è già ampliamente presente già oggi: una ricerca fatta da Ramesh Govindan di USC mostra come Google sia ormai un vero e proprio TELCO con una sua mega infrastruttura fatta di reti e di data center. E i principali provider di CDN sono già oggi in grado di fornire un vantaggio competitivo nella user experience a chi ha i soldi per permettersele. Io credo che dobbiamo prenderne atto e cominciare a immaginare un modello alternativo di neutrality: e se parlassimo piuttosto di fairness? People used Facebook, Twitter, other social media, blogs, and websites to organize and launch protests against SOPA and ACTA, two controversial copyright proposals in the United States and European Union that many feared would lead to Internet censorship. Participants will learn how the Internet helped people fight for their Internet freedoms--and do the unthinkable in stopping powerful lobbyists and the entertainment industry in their effort to clamp down on online piracy at all costs. About Ed Edward Lee is a Professor of Law and the Director of the internationally recognized Program in Intellectual Property Law at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. He graduated summa cum laude from Williams College with a bachelor's degree in philosophy (highest honors) and classics, and cum laude from Harvard Law School. His Boston Review article The Day Wikipedia Went Dark was published on the one year anniversary of the Wikipedia blackout. As a contributor to the Huffington Post, he has written various articles related to the Internet, copyright, and pop culture. Voluntary commitments were announced on increased political transparency, and talks planned about freedom of information, civic participation, whistleblower protection and corporate accountability. David Cameron, the British prime minister, opened the event with an announcement that the UK would crack down on hidden company ownership -- a move widely celebrated by transparency, anti-corruption and tax justice campaigners. Elaborate networks of shell companies are often used for illicit and unethical activities including arms trafficking, terrorist financing, illegal tax evasion and aggressive tax avoidance. Making the true owners of companies part of the public record will enable journalists, campaigners and others outside government to expose these dark networks and the money that flows through them. Cameron emphasised the importance of open government for economic growth and innovation. Alluding to the work of Amartya Sen, he contended that open governments were conducive to economic prosperity, whereas "closed governments breed poverty". La responsabilità degli intermediari della rete internet e la giurisprudenza. E questo il titolo del Convegno che si svolgerà il giorno 26 Novembre 2013, dalle ore 9 e 30 alle 13 e 30 presso lAula Magna Avvocati della Corte di Cassazione in Roma. It calls upon states to take measures to put an end to violations of these rights (operative para. 4 b), calls upon states to review their procedures, practices and legislation concerning the extra-territorial surveillance of private communications (para. 4 b) and calls upon states to establish independent oversight mechanisms capable of ensuring the transparency and accountability of state surveillance of communications (para. 4 d). Although the draft resolution does not mention the United States or the National Security Agency (NSA), it is indirectly reacting against the NSA's recent espionage and surveillance activities conducted in a number of European states, including France, Italy, and Spain. This two-part post will focus on surveillance of German officials including the chancellor Angela Merkel and of ordinary persons in Germany by way of example. Spying on government officials concerns general international law, which will be the focus of Part I of this post.
