Internet ed il picco del petrolio

Certamente i Presenti avranno già considerato la dipendenza di Internet dalle fonti d'energia fossile. Sono certo avrete dati precisi sia da un punto di vista quantitativo che qualitativo. La questione che oso porre allora è questa: vista l'attuale dipendenza di Internet dal petrolio, visto il presumibile esaurirsi di quest'ultimo, non sarebbe più opportuno consolidare le caratteristiche fondamentali della Rete piuttosto che rincorrere sue esasperate prestazioni? Molte delle strade asfaltate periferiche oggi disponibili, nel caso il petrolio si esaurisse, difficilmente potrebbero essere mantenute in attività. Questo rischio lo stiamo correndo anche per quanto riguarda Internet? Se minimamente la risposta fosse vicina ad un sì, non sarebbe più opportuno intanto focalizzare la Rete su un uso utile, da un punto di vista civico, educativo, commerciale di base, piuttosto che cercare di farne, ora, un mezzo per vendere pesanti contenuti, i quali hanno già altre vie per diffondersi? Chissà se sto facendo tutto quello che vogliono gli statali? Perfino quando andiamo in bagno, noi cittadini veniamo presi dal dubbio di essere conformi alle mille procedure imposte o vietate dagli statali (i politici contano poco e niente, sono gli statali che fanno la differenza). Ed allora se c'è un benedetto 41% che ancora s'attarda, dico: non fa nulla, di nulla, di nulla. C'è ben altro da fare, relativamente ad Internet ed a tutto il resto. In defense of the move, it explained that the system encouraged quantity rather than quality of comments; some defenders of the move also have pointed out that reaching the requisite minimum number, on a platform with almost a billion users, was impossible to achieve in any event. We believe that this presents an opportunity to rethink the ways that meaningful participation by users in the development of policies that will govern large (and arguably essential) online social spaces can be achieved. In the online world, website policies, incorporated into their Terms of Service (TOS), "regulate" the activities of large numbers of people during increasingly substantial portions of their lives. In effect, TOS represent a new kind of law -- an amalgam of principles borrowed from property law (and a service provider's right to impose conditions on access to its servers), contract law (although TOS terms are not the result of negotiations or meaningful acceptance by users, and, indeed, most service providers reserve the right to change the terms that users supposedly accept at any time), tort law (although TOS-law doesn't generally provide for compensation for any injuries), and criminal law (although TOS-law doesn't provide for due process or impose external sanctions). Terms of Service govern not merely the relationship between individual users and the online service provider, but the relationships among users. They matter, and they will matter more and more as more and more of our time is spent in online spaces. The question is: who will make this new kind of law? We give companies our data and trust them with our security, but we receive very few assurances of protection in return, and those companies have very few restrictions on what they can do. This needs to change. There should be limitations on what cloud vendors can do with our data; rights, like the requirement that they delete our data when we want them to; and liabilities when vendors mishandle our data. Like everything else in security, it's a trade-off. We need to balance that trade-off. In Europe, it was the rise of the centralized state and the rule of law that undermined the ad hoc feudal system; it provided more security and stability for both lords and vassals. But these days, government has largely abdicated its role in cyberspace, and the result is a return to the feudal relationships of yore. Concordo, a parte l'uso improprio di "smaterializzare" al posto di "dematerializzare", forse Repubblica potrebbe dare spazio anche a chi ha qualcosa di diverso da dire sul tema Introdurre il registro elettronico e' una questione molto diversa se si parla di scuole primarie o secondarie: le prime non hanno risorse economiche sufficienti per acquisire software adeguati e dotarsi delle infrastrutture necessarie e al tempo stesso hanno un rapporto con le famiglie e un'organizzazione interna completamente diversa, dalle scuole secondarie di primo e secondo grado. Di registro elettronico se ne parla da piu' di dieci anni e alcune scuole secondarie di grandi dimensioni hanno in tanti casi gia' risolto la questione adottando modelli organizzativi piu' o meno diversi ... ad esempio in certi casi abolendo la questione dell"orario provvisorio"... le scuole primarie non ne hanno l'esigenza e giustamente non sanno come affrontare questa che viene vista come un'ennesima "vessazione".
