Who is harmed by a "Real Names" policy? This page lists groups of people who are disadvantaged by any policy which bans Pseudonymity <http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Pseudonymity> and requires so-called "Real names" (more properly, legal names). This is an attempt to create a comprehensive list of groups of people who are affected by such policies. The cost to these people can be vast, including: * harassment, both online and offline * discrimination in employment, provision of services, etc. * actual physical danger of bullying, hate crime, etc. * arrest, imprisonment, or execution in some jurisdictions * economic harm such as job loss, loss of professional reputation, reduction of job opportunity, etc. * social costs of not being able to interact with friends and colleagues * possible (temporary) loss of access to their data if their account is suspended or terminated The groups of people who use pseudonyms, or want to use pseudonyms, are not a small minority (some of the classes of people who can benefit from pseudonyms constitute up to 50% of the total population, and many of the others are classes of people that almost everyone knows). L'articolo evidenzia molto bene i vantaggi del Software Defined Networking (SDN): - controllo della rete - possibilità di inserire nuovi servizi senza attendere le release software dei vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc) Questo si traduce in minori investimenti e minori costi operativi secondo i sostenitori dell'SDN (anche se Google stessa non quantifica i risparmi). cassazione civile (5525/2012) e diritto all'oblio

Salve, mi sembra non sia venuta fuori negli ultimi messaggi e quindi segnalo (e non allego in quanto facilmente reperibile online) la sentenza Cass. 5525/2012 sul diritto all'oblio, che (con qualche simpatico refuso nella versione originale: "Garante dei beni personali"? ma non solo, e qualche lirismo "il mare di internet") stabilisce che gli editori che rendano disponibili online i loro archivi storici devono predisporre un sistema che consenta "il rapido ed agevole accesso da parte degli utenti" alle notizie relative agli eventuali sviluppi della vicenda (se la notizia originaria è: "arrestato", rendere disponibile ed evidente il link alle notizie riferite, ad es., alla effettiva condanna o meno...), con varie implicazioni, Marina Caporale

Popular accounts suggest that cybercrime is large, rapidly growing, profitable and highly evolved; annual loss estimates range from billions to nearly $1 trillion. While other industries stagger under the weight of recession, in cybercrime, business is apparently booming. Yet in terms of economics, there’s something very wrong with this picture. Generally the demand for easy money outstrips supply. Is cybercrime an exception? If getting rich were as simple as downloading and running software, wouldn’t more people do it, and thus drive down returns? We have examined cybercrime from an economics standpoint and found a story at odds with the conventional wisdom. A few criminals do well, but cybercrime is a relentless, low-profit struggle for the majority. Spamming, stealing passwords or pillaging bank accounts might appear a perfect business.
