Addio telecomando. Benvenuto mouse. Forse la transizione dalla vecchia televisione alla internevisione la dovremo fare per respirare un po di aria pura. Passare da un modello broadcast ad un modello streaming può non essere facile ma può riservare delle piacevole sorprese. Eliminando i costi della distribuzione broadcast (satellitare o meno) ci si può concentrare sui contenuti. Ed ipotizzare palinsesti su misura ed una guida TV on-line o inviata per posta elettronica o magari su una App. Anche perché sono sicuro che se si andasse a studiare la platea di Current TV scopriremmo che per oltre il 90% è fatta da utenti ampliamente digitali e con propensione alla innovazione. E semmai ci mettiamo Paypal per consentirci il pay-per-stream di alcuni contenuti. Il bello di essere una TV di nicchia, insomma. http://howtobypassinternetcensorship.org/ *About* This manual, 'Bypassing Internet Censorship', provides an introduction to the topic and explains some of the software and methods most often used for circumventing censorship. There is some information on avoiding surveillance and other means of detection while bypassing censorship, however this is a large topic in itself so we have only addressed it where it coincides directly with issues of circumvention. A full discussion of techniques for maintaining anonymity and preventing detection of content or activities is beyond the scope of this book. How and by whom this book was written The first version of this manual featured content that had been largely written at a Book Sprint that took place in November 2008 in the beautiful hills of Upper New York State in the USA. Eight people worked together over an intensive five-day period to produce the book. The updated version of this manual that you are currently reading was compiled in the context of a second Book Sprint held near Berlin, Germany, in early 2011. This time, 11 people worked together over an intensive five-day period. This book is a living document of course and is available online for free, where you can also edit it and improve it. In addition to the material written during the two Book Sprints, material has been contributed from previous publications. UK IP Report Recommends Creating New Copyright Exceptions, Warns Against Over Regulation Wednesday May 18, 2011 The much-anticipated UK Independent Review of IP and Growth <http://www.ipo.gov.uk/ipreview>, typically referred to as the Hargreaves report, was released this morning. The report focuses on how intellectual property laws can stifle innovation and urges the UK government to enact reforms that remove legal barriers to economic growth (James Boyle, who served as expert advisor to the review, gives his take here <http://www.thepublicdomain.org/2011/05/18/the-hargreaves-review-is-publishe…>). For example, it notes: Because IPRs grant a form of monopoly, an overly rigid and inflexible IP framework can act as a barrier to innovation. When a firm has acquired exclusive rights over its innovative technology or content, other firms will be able to learn from that technology or see the content, but may be unable to use them for further innovation unless licensing can be agreed. IPRs can constrain third parties wishing to access or innovate on top of this protected knowledge or content, with potentially serious economic and social costs. The report also notes that a considerable amount of IP policy is often not based on economic evidence, citing as examples the EU database directive and the extension of the term of copyright. Creative action in defence of a free Internet against G8 plans

La Quadrature du Net has initiated an action with the Free Culture Forum, Boing-Boing, the Chaos Computer Club, Free Art & Technology (F.A.T), SAMUP (French Union of Musicians and Dancers), Telecomix and others. See : http://g8internet.com that calls everyone to produce creative / expressive pieces in all media to defend the free Internet and oppose plans to impose control, surveillance, kill switches, the Great European Firewall, ACTA, non-judiciary approaches to IPR enforcement (all at the menu of the G8 and its smokescreen predecessor the e-G8Internet) It is still time for organizations to join the list of initiators of the call, and everyone has until Next Tuesday to answer it creatively and disseminate it widely.
