> Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2014 09:29:01 +0200 > From: demartin(a)polito.it > To: nexa(a)server-nexa.polito.it > Subject: Re: [nexa] Il Cloud è una trappola > > Nel senso di cloud privato individuale, vero? > > On 14/10/14 09:26, Stefano Quintarelli wrote: > > il cloud privato, no... > > :-) > > > > 14/Ott/2014 ha scritto: > >> http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2008/sep/29/cloud.computing.richard.s… > >> > >> Questo il parere di Richard Stallman sul cloud > >> > >> Saluti a tutti > >> > >> Diego > >> > >> > >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >> > >> _______________________________________________ > >> nexa mailing list > >> nexa(a)server-nexa.polito.it > >> https://server-nexa.polito.it/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nexa > > -- > > meet me at: http://me.quintarelli.it > > blog: http://blog.quintarelli.it > > web clips: http://clips.quintarelli.it > > tumblr: http://stefanoquintarelli.tumblr.com > > _______________________________________________ > > nexa mailing list > > nexa(a)server-nexa.polito.it > > https://server-nexa.polito.it/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nexa > > _______________________________________________ > nexa mailing list > nexa(a)server-nexa.polito.it > https://server-nexa.polito.it/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/nexa

Wired: "With This Tiny Box, You Can Anonymize Everything You Do Online"

by J.C. DE MARTIN

*With This Tiny Box, You Can Anonymize Everything You Do Online* BY ANDY GREENBERG 10.13.14 No tool in existence protects your anonymity on the Web better than the software Tor, which encrypts Internet traffic and bounces it through random computers around the world. But for guarding anything other than Web browsing, Tor has required a mixture of finicky technical setup and software tweaks. Now routing all your traffic through Tor may be as simple as putting a portable hardware condom on your ethernet cable. Today a group of privacy-focused developers plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign for Anonabox. The $45 open-source router automatically directs all data that connects to it by ethernet or Wifi through the Tor network, hiding the user’s IP address and skirting censorship. It’s also small enough to hide two in a pack of cigarettes. Anonabox’s tiny size means users can carry the device with them anywhere, plugging it into an office ethernet cable to do sensitive work or in a cybercafe in China to evade the Great Firewall. The result, if Anonabox fulfills its security promises, is that it could become significantly easier to anonymize all your traffic with Tor—not just Web browsing, but email, instant messaging, filesharing and all the other miscellaneous digital exhaust that your computer leaves behind online. Disponibile online il testo della "Dichiarazione dei diritti in Internet"

by J.C.

"Silicon Valley’s Empathy Problem"

by J.C. DE MARTIN

October 9, 2014 by Ian P. Beacock *Silicon Valley’s Empathy Problem* Facebook is no stranger to controversy, but last month the company found itself in a public scrap with its fiercest opponents yet. The cause? Facebook’s decision to delete the accounts of several San Francisco drag queens, enforcing a longstanding policy that users go by their real names on the site. Here in San Francisco, the activist queens known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence reacted with anger and disbelief. As queens like Sister Roma rightly pointed out, alternative names are a means of greater safety, especially for those in the LGBT community. After all, we live in a country where you can be fired for being gay, a nation in which queer people are regularly disowned and taunted and bullied and beaten. Sometimes it’s unsafe to share everything with everyone. Although Facebook has since apologized to the queens, the controversial rules haven’t changed. We shouldn’t be surprised by the company’s stance. “You have one identity,” its chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, declared several years ago. “Having two identities for yourself is an example of a lack of integrity.” Comments and policies like those betray a stunning lack of imagination. They presume that the world is a static, simple place where identities are not questioned but assured. The assumption behind Facebook’s “real name” policy is that everyone feels (or should feel) certain about who they are. Maybe that rings true for the handful of young developers running the social network in Menlo Park, Calif., but it doesn’t reflect the 21st-century world most Facebook users actually know and experience.
