Ciao, stavo scartabellando un po' i vari report di cui all'oggetto, visibili qui https://data.europa.eu/en/dashboard/2020 Qualcuno di voi ha (o conosce enti che lo hanno fatto) tentato di verificare i claims dei vari report? The Economy (manuale introduttivo di economia in CC-BY-ND)

Salve, vi scrivo per segnalare a chi, come me, non lo conoscesse già un manuale introduttivo di Economia per l'Università, distribuito in CC-BY-ND: https://www.core-econ.org/the-economy/ L'indice [1] sembra molto interessante in quanto segnala, accanto ai consueti concetti economico-matematici, analisi storiche, ambientali e politiche. Al di là dei problemi (vedi oltre) di questo testo specifico, l'approccio mi sembra molto innovativo e sarebbe bello vederlo applicato ai manuali universitari di informatica e programmazione. Oltre ad accostare alle discipline tecniche corsi obbligatori di Storia sugli ultimi 80 anni (i meno insegnati dalla scuola secondaria e dunque i più ignorati dalla popolazione) sarebbe utile integrare questo tipo di analisi critiche direttamente nei manuali tecnici. L'informatica stessa, infatti, ha ormai una notevole storia fatta di errori, scelte subottimali dalle conseguenze disastrose, influenze politiche e vicoli ciechi, di cui raramente gli informatici hanno consapevolezza, con conseguenze notevoli sul loro lavoro professionale. [2] In questo caso, questo libro di economia presenta una prefazione particolarmente politica [3]: > In 2014, when we published the first beta of The Economy online, > Camila Cea provided a preface. At the time, she was a recent > economics graduate, but already a veteran of a successful protest > movement in Chile that was advocating policies to advance economic > justice. They demanded > changes in the curriculum. The director of the School of Economics > and Business at the time, Oscar Landerretche, responded to their > demands. Notate quanto sia informatica [3] questa definizione dell'economia? ;-) Ed infatti la prefazione prosegue con > The Economy is a course in economics. Throughout, we start with a > question or a problem about the economy—why the advent of capitalism > is associated with a sharp increase in average living standards, for > example—and then teach the tools of economics that contribute to an > answer. Ho dato un occhiata al capitolo sul capitalismo [4] e ho trovato una interessante analisi della innovazione tecnologica come vero motore del miglioramento delle condizioni di vita _medie_ nelle economie capitaliste. La trattazione si sposta poi sull'aumento delle diseguaglianze economiche sia fra le nazioni che fra gli individui all'interno di ciascuna nazione. > We have seen that the institutions associated with capitalism have > the potential to make people better off, through opportunities for > both specialization and the introduction of new technologies, and > that the permanent technological revolution coincided with the > emergence of capitalism. Un timido passo avanti nella giusta direzione, direi. ;-) I limiti di questa analisi, pur migliore di moltissime altre in quanto non continua a negare la realtà, credo derivino dalla uniformità culturale [6] ed ideologica degli autori: 18 membri del core team su 23 insegnano in università inglesi o statunitensi [7]. Per questo la realizzazione di un progetto analogo in ambito informatico dovrebbe partire dal sud del mondo (sud in cui includo anche tutti i paesi europei meno favoriti dal regime capitalista post-bellico). L'economia è ormai al tramonto, l'informatica sta sorgendo come nuovo paradigma interpretativo della società, in grado di includere le teorie economiche ed integrarle con le dinamiche cibernetiche. Se questo bel manuale in open access è (anche) uno strumento di propaganda politica, è importante che si incontri/scontri dialetticamente con una visione alternativa. Esiste già qualcosa del genere? [...] The company supplying the technology claimed it was more Covid-secure than other systems, as it was cashless and contactless, and sped up the lunch queue, cutting the time spent on each transaction to five seconds. [...] Other types of biometric systems, principally fingerprint scanners, have been used in schools in the UK for years, but campaigners say the use of facial recognition technology is unnecessary.
