Speaker Paolo Mistrangelo Ingresso libero This event will be webcast live: http://nexa.polito.it/upcoming-events Obiettivo dell'8° Nexa Lunch Seminar è quello di ipotizzare, in modalità 'brainstorming', *nuovi possibili modelli di creazione di valore, anche in ottica collaborativa, basati sull'informazione catastale*. A partire da un intervento introduttivo di *Paolo Mistrangelo* - libero professionista, consulente ed esperto di dati territoriali - verrà discussa l'attuale impostazione, confrontandola con possibili scenari alternativi e con le loro implicazioni, in particolare per i soggetti che intravedono in un più agevole *riutilizzo dei dati catastali* potenziali benefici per la collettività. Tra i dati raccolti e gestiti dal settore pubblico, l'informazione catastale ha un *valore strategico*: stante la sua natura di registro geometrico delle proprietà immobiliari, costituisce infatti una base cartografica originaria di ogni *mappatura del territorio e delle sue trasformazioni*. Questo insieme informativo è di estrema utilità per il funzionamento della macchina pubblica. Al tempo stesso, un numero più ampio di soggetti potrebbe generare valore dal riutilizzo questi dati, attivando modelli virtuosi a partire da un rilascio libero e aperto delle basi informative, in particolare per applicazioni e servizi coerenti con l'idea di "città intelligenti". Questa ipotesi comporterebbe in primo luogo un *ripensamento del modello di funzionamento (e finanziamento) dell'Agenzia del Territorio <http://www.agenziaterritorio.it/site.php?id=home>*, ad esempio sulla scorta di quanto realizzato in paesi - come la Spagna - in cui la pratica dell'Open Data è in corso di applicazione anche per l'informazione catastale. Where third parties predetermine the news, products and prices you see---even the people you meet. A world where you /think/ you are making choices, but in reality, your options are narrowed and refined until you are left with merely the illusion of control. This is not far from what is happening today. Thanks to technology that enables Google, Facebook and others to gather information about us and use it to tailor the user experience to our own personal tastes, habits and income, the Internet has become a different place for the rich and for the poor. Most of us have become unwitting actors in an unfolding drama about the tale of two Internets. There is yours and mine, theirs and ours. Here's how it works. Advertising currently drives the vast majority of the Internet industry by volume of revenue. Silicon Valley is excellent at founding and funding companies that give you free apps and then collect and sell your data when you use them. For most of the Internet's short history, the primary goal of this data collection was classic product marketing: for example, advertisers might want to show me Nikes and my wife Manolo Blahniks. But increasingly, data collection is leapfrogging well beyond strict advertising and enabling insurance, medical and other companies to benefit from analyzing your personal, highly detailed "Big Data" record without your knowledge. Three hundred metres from Knightsbridge underground station, just a stone's throw from fashion-conscious Harrods, I suddenly encounter a wall of police. I try to remember my instructions. Look straight ahead. Avoid eye contact. If asked my name, reply with a question. Ask who authorised them to ask. Climb the stone steps. Act purposefully. Appear to know exactly where you're heading. I don't. Through a set of double doors, I'm confronted by more police officers, this time armed, with meaner faces. "Good afternoon", I say politely, as I edge towards the receptionist. "I've an appointment at the Ecuador embassy. Am I at the correct address?" "Ring the brass bell", grunts the bored-looking man squatting at his desk. A few minutes later, after some confusion about whether or not my name's on the appointments list, I'm ushered inside. I'm greeted by the personal assistant of the most wanted man in the world. Writing or speaking about streaming music screwing artists? Read these articles first February 13th, 2013 by Stuart Dredge I really like Aimee Mann's music, but her recent interview in which she gave her views on streaming music bothered me. "My record isn't on Spotify,"Mann told the Telegraph <http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/rockandpopfeatures/9822192/Aimee-M…>. "People may be outraged, but artists don't make money from Spotify." Artists don't make money from Spotify. A phrase that crystallises what may be the most important debate in the history of digital music: whether streaming music services can pay off for artists -- and more widely, whether they can turn a profit and build a sustainable business for themselves and the music industry. It bothered me, because it was just tossed out there with no backup. Why does Mann believe that? What data is she working from? As an artist who set up her own label some time ago and has blazed an independent path since, Mann should have an informed view, but details were frustratingly absent from that particular interview. Leaving that piece aside, though, far too much of the public debate around streaming music services and artist payouts is dominated by gut feeling, partiality and Chinese whispers. What's needed is more proper data and informed opinion. So, I gathered some. A quick note before diving into it: this article isn't trying to prove that streaming is marvellous or dreadful for artists. It's not taking sides. Some of the pieces referenced below are heavily critical of Spotify and streaming payouts, others are very supportive, and others are simply trying to get to the bottom of the actual numbers. The point: spend an hour or two reading all these pieces, and you'll hopefully have a lot more information to base your own opinions on. It's something I intend to keep updated too, so if you've seen an article or data you think should be included, post a link in the comments section, so it can be incorporated into the piece. Perché in Italia i gestori dei locali pubblici non lasciano il Wi-Fi aperto a tutti e nel resto del mondo invece ci si può connettere senza problemi? Il motivo era semplice: i proprietari di ristoranti, bar e pub avevano paura di finire nei guai, se ritenuti responsabili di eventuali illeciti commessi dagli avventori. Ora, in risposta a un quesito posto da Fipe, la Federazione italiana pubblici esercizi aderente a Confcommercio, il Garante Privacy ha confermato quanto già stabilito dal decreto Milleproroghe del 2010, ossia che «i gestori dei locali che vogliono offrire ai loro clienti la connessione Wi-Fi gratuita ed eventualmente mettere a disposizione anche Pc e terminali di vario genere, sono sollevati da qualsiasi responsabilità rispetto alla navigazione dei loro clienti e, nel caso volessero entrare in possesso di informazioni più dettagliate, devono richiedere al consumatore di firmare l'autorizzazione al trattamento dei dati personali».
