L'incontro rappresenta un’importante occasione di confronto sullo stato sullo stato di attuazione, sulle prossime tappe e sugli obiettivi dell'Agenda Digitale Italiana a confronto con il più ampio contesto del panorama internazionale. C'è, come vi immaginarete, il mio zampino: parecchie pagine sono dedicate al digital labor e la raccomandazione centrale propone di istituire un reddito universale di cittadinanza. The United States had publicly proselytized for the free flow of information while secretly diverting these flows into NSA server farms. It had vigorously supported the global expansion of technology companies, championing the use of Twitter, for example, in pro-democratic movements such as those of the Arab Spring, while quietly requiring some of those firms to turn over troves of data and tapping into their servers overseas. Of course, the United States is not alone in its cynicism. Some politicians who have publicly expressed fury at the Snowden revelations, including German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière, have hypocritically tried to impose similar surveillance schemes on their countries’ own civilians, and foreign intelligence agencies that depend on the CIA have minimized the scandal for fear of being cut off from U.S. intelligence-sharing programs. However, as U.S. actions have interfered with the basic rights of citizens abroad, they have drawn the ire of a different set of actors who are less easily cowed than politicians: judges, who often see their role as protecting fundamental constitutional protections rather than striking international compromises. PayPal, others buy stolen data from criminals to protect users In early 2014, hackers gained control of a small number of eBay employee log-ins and breached a company database containing customer information. Inside it were phone numbers, home addresses and dates of birth, among other details that users entrusted the online auctioneer to protect. The breach would prove so vast that eBay was forced to ask more than 100 million people to reset their passwords. PayPal, then the digital-commerce arm of eBay, sought to ensure it wouldn’t have to ask its users to do the same. E' solo un altro dei vari casi in cui il copyright viene esteso ben oltre la sua portata con pretesti assurdi. Basti ricordare la vicenda di Happy Birthday (http://www.apogeonline.com/webzine/2015/09/30/copyright-tanti-auguri) e altri casi simili (http://www.mysolutionpost.it/blogs/it-law/piana/2015/04/copyright-dominio-p…) Il caso Anne Frank è utile perché, grazie alla notorietà dell'opera, sta aprendo il dibattito su questa deriva patologica del diritto d'autore. In an article entitled “The internet’s first victim,” journalist John Hayes highlights the technological imperative coming toward the academic publisher’s profit margin with the growing internet culture and said, “Cost-cutting librarians and computer-literate professors are bypassing academic journals — bad news for Elsevier.” After publication of the article, investors seemed to heed Hayes’s rationale for Elsevier’s impeding demise. Elsevier stock fell 7% in two days to $26 a share. As the smoke settles twenty years later, one of the clear winners on this longitudinal timeline of innovation is the very firm that investors, journalists, and forecasters wrote off early as a casualty to digital evolution: Elsevier. Perhaps to the chagrin of many academics, the publisher has actually not been bruised nor battered. In fact, the publisher’s health is stronger than ever.
