*Singapore digitalizza la propria valuta sulla piattaforma Ethereum** * 8 giugno 2017 La Monetary Authority di Singapore (MAS) e la Banca Centrale di Singapore, hanno digitalizzato con successo la propria valuta nazionale (Singaporean Dollar) creando un token sulla piattaforma blockchain di Ethereum. Otto banche saranno collegate nel network anche attraverso il servizio di IBM MQ Client. Lo scorso Novembre, MAS aveva annunciato il progetto Ubin: esplorare l’uso della blockchain e delle piattorme distribuite nel settore finanziario del paese. La fase 1 del progetto è stata stringere una partnership R3, un azienda di blockchain e consorzio di molte istituzioni finanziarie, per sviluppare un piattaforma con il protocollo Proof-of-Concept per permettere i pagamenti interbancari (RTGS system). Lo scopo era quello di creare una moneta centrale digitale sulla piattaforma di Vitalik. Secondo Trusnode, il piano è riuscito con successo. *Digital labour and development: impacts of global digital labour platforms and the gig economy on worker livelihoods** * Mark Graham, Isis Hjorth, Vili Lehdonvirta First Published March 16, 2017 Research Article *Abstract** * As ever more policy-makers, governments and organisations turn to the gig economy and digital labour as an economic development strategy to bring jobs to places that need them, it becomes important to understand better how this might influence the livelihoods of workers. Drawing on a multi-year study with digital workers in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-east Asia, this article highlights four key concerns for workers: bargaining power, economic inclusion, intermediated value chains, and upgrading. The article shows that although there are important and tangible benefits for a range of workers, there are also a range of risks and costs that unduly affect the livelihoods of digital workers. Building on those concerns, it then concludes with a reflection on four broad strategies – certification schemes, organising digital workers, regulatory strategies and democratic control of online labour platforms – that could be employed to improve conditions and livelihoods for digital workers. Coniati dall'allora Information and Privacy Commissioner della provincia canadese dell'Ontario, i due paradigmi sono stati oggetto di un incessante lavorio accademico che ha portato ad ampliarne l'importanza e la rilevanza per una società sempre più dominata dai servizi elettronici personalizzati. Questi due concetti hanno poi abbandonato il regno delle buzzwords un anno fa, quando il nuovo Regolamento Europeo in materia di protezione dei dati personali è stato formalmente approvato, chiudendo il più lungo iter legislativo della storia dell'Unione Europa e contribuendo a ribilanciare i poteri in gioco nella società digitale. *Ma cosa significa concretamente proteggere la privacy degli utenti fin dalle fasi della progettazione e per impostazione predefinita?* Come si può efficacemente ottemperare a questi nuovi obblighi sulla cui inadempienza grava una pesante sanzione? Il contributo che verrà presentato durante l'incontro - discusso anche in seno alla conferenza TILTing Perspective 2017 del Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society - partirà da una mera analisi sintattica dell'articolo 25 del Regolamento, sviscerandone le componenti ed estraendone un primo schema applicativo. In seguito, mostrerà tre esercizi implementativi in contesti particolarmente "stressanti": aste in tempo reale sui profili personali, mHealth e motori di ricerca. *Il risultato è un primo framework utile all'implementazione dei principi oggetto della ricerca*. Ma molti punti necessitano di ulteriori approfondimenti: l'obiettivo dell'incontro è proprio raccogliere pareri ed opinioni da esperti della materia al fine di raffinare la metodologia e continuare a comprendere nel dettaglio le logiche nascoste tra le pieghe di questo nuovo meta-requisito. *The Tools and the Tribute** * /Bruce Sterling/ Share Festival is a Turinese cultural event where we solicit technology artworks worldwide. We award a prize and display the results to the locals. I’m one of the judges and often the art director. This event has been showing device art, interactive art, software art, installations and net.art for a round dozen years. It’s long been my intuition that Torino, a city of many public art fairs, should be more productive of these forms of art. The city has everything required to become a powerhouse in the niche world of tech-art: boutique manufacturing, elite polytechnic education, engineers and designers with educated taste and some time on their hands, plus a large culture-industry sector with a smart-city ideology. So, as a Turinese cultural event, we’re bending more of our energies toward technology-art production. Our best-known effort to date is this year’s “Share Festival Artmaker Bag, Version 1.0.” We’re quite proud of this local innovation, with its global implications. This handsome festival gift is a portable tool kit, a sturdy black nylon valise containing a curated mix of light electronics gear with standard Italian craft tools. At Share Festival, we choose these tools, we buy them, we package them inside the Share Festival bag, and then give them away as morale-raising trophies to artists we admire.
