Currently the bulk of these companies provide Document Automation, Marketplace and Practice Management services but there is also significant growth in companies offering Compliance, Analytics and Legal Research services. After a succinct analysis of the related market, the aim of this presentation is to*highlight the main critical aspects as well as the evident opportunities * which could arise from the introduction of these new services throughout the legal sector. The main critical aspects are related to *fairness and reliability of the algorithm*, while the opportunity is to create an efficient, transparent and speed process for receiving legal services that it could mean a significant saving of the public fund. The legal profession is at an important, delicate crossroads. Legal tech services and, chiefly, the use of artificial intelligence must not be overestimated, but neither should they be ostracised. *The best policy must be gradual * because Italy and Europe are far behind the United States which has already gained considerable experience. The goal in order to develop the future of the legal profession is *to transform*, where appropriate,*the legal service into an organised process*. Once this transformation has been happened, it will be possible to appreciate which aspects can be automated and which areas, out of necessity, must remain within the remit of professional lawyers. BIOGRAFIE - e informazioni supplementari [VACIAGO] A lawyer since 2002, *Giuseppe VACIAGO * is a Partner of R&P legal since 2013. He focuses on criminal law relating to new technology, and corporate criminal law as well as advising on the drafting of organizational models pursuant to Italian law 231/01; he acts for a number of leading national and international companies in the IT sector. Giuseppe Vaciago has a PhD in Digital Forensics from the University of Milan-Bicocca and lectures in IT law at the University of Insubria. He is Lead Auditor ISO/IEC 27001/20013, IT Security. He attended Stanford Law School and Fordham Law School in New York as a Visiting Scholar. He has also been invited to speak on a number of occasions by the most prestigious Italian universities as well as universities abroad. Dopo Parigi (2017) e Cardiff (2018), speriamo di darvi il benvenuto a Salerno il 16 e 17 maggio 2019 per discutere di "Europe as a Global Player in Internet Governance". ========== *GIG-ARTS 2019 – The Third European Multidisciplinary Conference on Global Internet Governance Actors, Regulations, Transactions and Strategies* *16-17 May 2019, SalernoEurope as a Global Player in Internet Governance* *Organised by:*The Internet & Communication Policy Centre / Department of Political, Social and Communication Sciences / Università degli Studi di Salerno *Co-Sponsored By:*The Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), The ECPR Standing Group on Internet and Politics, The Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet), The IAMCR Communication Policy and Technology Section, The ICA Communication Law and Policy Division. *Call for Abstracts - Deadline: 29 October 2018* Although to varying degrees of autonomy, awareness, and effectiveness over time and issues, European institutions have been engaged in internet governance and policy-making since at least two decades. Both the European Union and Europe as a region have generally played a crucial role in shaping the governance of the internet, at the global, regional and national levels. >From a geopolitical perspective, the EU has been one of the early actors advocating for the internationalisation of the DNS system and, more generally, for the enhancement of the multi-stakeholder governance model. >From a normative point of view, EU institutions as well as Member States have deeply affected highly sensitive internet-related issues, such as privacy and data protection, digital market competition, consumers' rights, copyright, e-commerce, content regulation, the right to be forgotten, etc. On the institutional level, some of the most interesting cases of recent constituent policies have emerged from the European Union, leading to the establishment of new agencies such as the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). Beyond the EU, some European intergovernmental organisations, such as the Council of Europe (CoE), have developed structured initiatives to uphold human rights, democracy and the rule of law on internet governance issues. Further, a number of European initiatives, such as the European Dialogue on internet Governance (EuroDIG) and the Global internet Policy Observatory (GIPO), have facilitated the transfer of ideas, knowledge, policies and institutional arrangements towards other countries and geographic areas. Finally, European NGOs as well as some European internet companies are currently advancing alternative visions and values about the internet and its governance, enriching the set of internet governance approaches as well as available design options. The third edition of the European Multidisciplinary Conference on Global Internet Governance Actors, Regulations, Transactions and Strategies (GIG-ARTS 2019), will be held exactly twenty years after the entry into force of the Amsterdam Treaty and ten years after the Lisbon Treaty, which are milestones in the history of the European integration process, preparing the EU for enlargement and further deepening of competences, and reinforcing the centrality of democratic principles and the protection of fundamental rights as the Union's foundation. After having addressed “Global Internet Governance as a Diplomacy Issue” at its first edition held in Paris in 2017, and "Inequalities in Internet Governance" at the second edition held in Cardiff in 2018, the 2019 GIG-ARTS conference will explore the role of Europe in the global governance of the internet. In particular, the conference will focus on challenges and opportunities, as well as strengths and weaknesses, of European approaches to internet governance and policy-making. Indeed, when individuals no longer feel they have equal access to opportunities, or the power to control their own future, hopelessness begins to set in. This hopelessness breeds discouragement and despair, disillusionment with government, and disconnection from the institutions that bring order and meaning to our lives. Worst of all, hopelessness can undercut individual potential and collective possibility. And nowhere does it loom larger than in the so-called fourth industrial revolution, which threatens to rob many people of their livelihoods, their dignity, their security, and their ambitions. But we do not need to be driven by hopelessness or fear. Yes, there are some daunting challenges on the horizon: Unprecedented technological change—including automation, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic decision-making—will impact workers around the world, and transform labor markets with a speed we can scarcely imagine now. We know that different places and demographic groups will not all be affected in the same ways.
