Cari Amici di Nexa, Voglio ringraziare, a nome del LUG di Cagliari (il Gulch), Raimondo Iemma, che ha accolto l'invito ad intervenire in apertura della tavola rotonda organizzata nell'ambito del Linuxday a Cagliari, con la collaborazione del DIEE (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica ed Elettronica - Cagliari) e di Flosslab S.r.l., sul tema degli Open Data, tavola rotonda che è stata moderata da Giulio De Petra, ed alla quale anche io ho dato il mio modesto contributo. Il suo intervento è stato illuminante, e ha orientato in maniera decisa i lavori. Segnalo che sul numero in edicola di Le Scienze è pubblicato un interessante dossier "studiare nell'era digitale", con interveste a docenti, esperienze di studenti africani, statistiche e due parti "i mooc speranze e illusioni", nonchè "i big data vanno a scuola". Pensavo di digitalizzarlo e mandarlo a tutti, ma forse i giuristi avrebbero qualcosa da obiettare riguardo al copyright... Saluti a tutti Diego

esce l'edizione 3 di Creative Commons: manuale operativo

Esce oggi la nuova edizione del più conosciuto e diffuso tra i miei libri (nonché l'unico tradotto in inglese e in spagnolo), ovvero Creative Commons: manuale operativo; come al solito rilasciato con licenza copyleft e scaricabile online. Quali le novità rispetto alle edizioni precedenti? Di certo sono maggiori rispetto a quelle apportate nell'edizione 2; ciò è stato reso necessario più che altro dal passaggio alla versione 4.0 delle licenze, che ha portato importanti novità. Ho inoltre pensato di approfondire l'aspetto della ricerca di opere rilasciate con licenze CC e del loro riutilizzo, con appositi nuovi paragrafi e di migliorare il testo ovunque fosse possibile. Tuttavia le novità più cospicue riguardano le appendici: sono stati tolti i testi meramente divulgativi presenti nelle precedenti versioni, i quali non facevano altro che riprendere concetti già presenti nel testo del libro e che comunque rimangono facilmente reperibili in rete. In compenso ora si trova un'interessante appendice con casi di studio tratti dall'archivio di SeLiLi – Servizio Licenze Libere, così da fornire un'ottica ancora più concreta e operativa. Spero che così il manuale risulti davvero migliorato e completo agli occhi dei lettori. Un grazie ai due editori che hanno supportato l'iniziativa e a tutti coloro che hanno diffuso l'opera in rete in questi anni e che continueranno a farlo. To him, the definition of "collect" requires that a human look at it. The NSA maintains that we shouldn't worry about human processing, either, because it has rules about accessing all that data.
