A number of other artists have also been in the news, publicly complaining about streaming music services (Black Keys, Aimee Mann and David Lowery of Camper van Beethoven and Cracker). Bob Dylan, Metallica and Pink Floyd were longtime Spotify holdouts -- until recently. I've pulled as much of my catalogue from Spotify as I can. AC/DC, Garth Brooks and Led Zeppelin have never agreed to be on these services in the first place. So, what's the deal? What are these services, what do they do and why are these musicians complaining? There are a number of ways to stream music online: Pandora is like a radio station that plays stuff you like but doesn't take requests; YouTube plays individual songs that folks and corporations have uploaded and Spotify is a music library that plays whatever you want (if they have it), whenever you want it. Some of these services only work when you're online, but some, like Spotify, allow you to download your playlist songs and carry them around. For many music listeners, the choice is obvious -- why would you ever buy a CD or pay for a download when you can stream your favourite albums and artists either for free, or for a nominal monthly charge? il processo civile telematico partirà davvero il 30 giugno?

Come alcuni sapranno, il 30 giugno prossimo dovrebbe avvenire il passaggio definitivo al processo civile telematico. Si tratta di una rivoluzione copernicana per la giustizia, che quindi avrà ripercussioni non solo sugli addetti ai lavori (avvocati, giudici e cancellieri). In sostanza, da quella data dovranno quindi essere effettuati in modalità unicamente telematica tutti i depositi degli atti processuali per procedimenti civili, contenziosi o di volontaria giurisdizione innanzi al tribunale, i depositi dei ricorsi per decreto ingiuntivo, lo scambio di memorie tra avvocati, i depositi di atti nelle procedure esecutive e fallimentari (per maggiori dettagli vedi questo articolo). Tuttavia, visto il livello di adeguamento delle varie sedi giudiziarie e la ritrosia di buona parte della categoria forense verso un cambiamento che incide pensantemente sul proprio modo di lavorare, molti sono scettici sul reale rispetto della data stabilita dalla legge un anno e mezzo fa. Ho creato un sondaggio su GoogleDocs che sarà la base per poi far eun commento e una riflessione sulla difficile digitalizzazione della giustizia italiana. Session description This session will analyse the instrumental role played by the network neutrality (NN) principle to guarantee the full enjoyment of human rights and foster a competitive market, and will focus on concrete solutions aimed at implementing this principle. The panellists will underline the risks of discriminatory Internet-traffic management (ITM) practices and will suggest technical and policy “remedies” that may be used to mitigate, avoid or prevent traffic discrimination. Subsequently, the panel will analyse a selection of national approaches aimed at safeguarding NN. On the one hand, private sector actors will be asked to identify the approaches that provide the most “innovation-friendly” environment. On the other hand, civil society actors will be asked to scrutinise the current approaches, identifying potential loopholes and pitfalls that may jeopardise Internet-users’ full enjoyment of fundamental rights and compromise the free flow of information.
