The event will mark an important milestone in the NoC’s globally coordinated research effort aimed at examining existing and potential models of decentralized and collaborative governance with the goal of informing the evolution of - and current debate around - the Internet governance ecosystem in light of the NETmundial Roadmap and the work of various forums, panels, and committees. The public conference is being held to discuss both research in progress and, more broadly, the role of academia in the debate about the next generation Internet governance ecosystem. We will present findings from case studies, discuss the overarching themes, and identify directions for future research. The symposium will serve as the conclusion of the first phase of a global, collaborative Internet governance research effort within the NoC and is also intended as an initial contribution to the NETmundial Initiative -- a partnership between the World Economic Forum, ICANN, and key governmental, industry, academic, and civil society stakeholders. In addition, the event marks the two-year anniversary of NoC’s operation. At this point, in accordance with the foundational principles, the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) hands over the administrative leadership of the Network to the Nexa Center for Internet & Society. Dynamic Coalition on Platform Responsibility

Dear all (apologies for cross posting), I would like to invite you to attend the inaugural meeting of the Dynamic Coalition on Platform Responsibility that will take place from 14:30 to 16:00, on Thursday, September 4th. For those of you who are not able to attend in person, please note that remote participation will be available. The meeting will be introduced by to keynotes delivered by: • Mr Jan Kleijssen, Director, Information Society and Action against Crime, Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law, Council of Europe • Ms Rebecca MacKinnon, Director of the Ranking Digital Rights project at New America Foundation Subsequently, we will engage in an open discussion to identify the key elements that will distinguish the work of the DC PR from existing initiatives on platform responsibility, and to jointly delineate a DC PR roadmap. Therefore, this meeting should be considered as a “Birds of a feather session” allowing all interested individuals to jointly plan the future works of the DC PR. The DC PR roadmap will be instrumental to plan the future activities of the DC PR members aimed at the elaboration of model contractual provisions, which will provide a reference for effective protection of specific human rights through online platforms’ terms of service. All the attendees will be encouraged to actively participate to the debate, providing their inputs to the definition of the DC PR roadmap. Dear all (apologies for cross-posting), The Council of Europe’s Internet Governance Unit would like to invite you to two IGF events aimed at nurturing discussions on human rights and the Internet. The Open Forum “Your Internet, Our Aim: Guide Internet Users to Their Human Rights!” will take place on 3 September, from 9:00 to 10.30, in room 8 (see http://sched.co/1k5wUqN ). The Open Forum will ignite discussion with regard to the role and the future of the Guide on Human Rights for Internet Users. You will have the possibility to take an active role in shaping the implementation of the Guide, proposing concrete actions that may be included in the Guide Implementation Project. The Side Meeting on ICANN and human rights, which will take place on 3 September, from 11.30 to 13.30, in room 11 (see: http://sched.co/1k5OqLz ).The Side Meeting aims at triggering an open and inclusive dialogue on ICANN’s procedures and policies in the light of human rights, fundamental freedoms and democratic values. It will be based on the CoE report, written by Dr Monika Zalnieriute and Thomas Schneider, that was presented and discussed at ICANN50 meeting. *dal sito di Agid * *25 Ago 2014* L’art. 24-quater, comma 2, D.L. n. 90/2014 (così come convertito in Legge n. 114/2014 <http://www.gazzettaufficiale.it/atto/stampa/serie_generale/originario>, pubblicata in G.U. n. 190 del 18 agosto 2014) prevede l’obbligo per tutte le pubbliche amministrazioni e società partecipate dalle pubbliche amministrazioni (in modo totalitario o prevalente) “di comunicare all'Agenzia per l'Italia digitale, esclusivamente per via telematica, l'elenco delle basi di dati in loro gestione e degli applicativi che le utilizzano”. La norma prevede che tale comunicazione debba avvenire entro il 18 settembre 2014 (trentesimo giorno dall’entrata in vigore della Legge di conversione). L’Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale informa che – a partire dal 1° settembre 2014 – renderà disponibile sul proprio sito una procedura on line per consentire a tutti i soggetti interessati di trasmettere il catalogo delle basi dati in loro gestione nonché degli applicativi che le utilizzano. carissimi, consentitemi un'ultima osservazione. Secondo i miei conti spannometrici (della cui poca serietà mi scuso), i risparmi realizzabili con l'adozione esclusiva di software di sistema llibero, si potrebbero finanziare i costi dello sviluppo dei programmi applicativi necessari per l'attuazione dell'Agenda Digitale. E non è indifferente, dal punto di vista del sistema economico nazionale, spendere soldi per licenze oppure, in alternativa, per finanziare progetti di ricerca e sviluppo nazionali. Raf
