Interessante articolo sul lavoro di B.J. Fogg, ricercatore a Stanford, sulla psicologia persuasiva e sul suo effetto sui bambini e sugli adolescenti. Giusto perché qualche tempo fa si parlava di etica della Silicon Valley. https://medium.com/@richardnfreed/the-tech-industrys-psychological-war-on-k… Qualche tempo fa, in un contesto diverso, parlavo di "pressione evolutiva". Queste tecniche funzionano benissimo sugli adulti, immaginate cosa possano fare a dei giovani privi di forti e complesse relazioni umane, che utilizzano i computer come canale di accesso alla realtà e di comunicazione con il resto del mondo. Intanto Google, intelligentemente, si muove in difesa del proprio bestiam... ehm della propria userbase, prima che qualcuno proponga di regolamentare per legge queste tecniche di manipolazione di massa: https://www.fastcodesign.com/90171307/googles-plan-to-make-tech-less-addict… Mi ricorda molto un bel film di qualche anno fa "Thank you for smoking". Ciao a tutti, dopo le elezioni del nuovo board di EDRi del mese scorso e la celebrazione dei suoi 15 anni, si è avviato un percorso di avvicendamento che vedrà l'introduzione di un nuovo Executive Director (tutto fatto in modo graduale e sereno). France leads the open source market in Europe

France leads the European open source market, with penetration in IT services and software higher than that of other countries, says the French company Pierre Audoin Consultants (PAC) in a survey published during the Paris Open Source Summit (POSS 2017). In France, the open source market reached EUR 4.46 billion in 2017, with annual growth of 8.3%. The Commission is seeking expressions of interest for 9 members of the High-Level Group, who will act in a personal capacity, independently and in the public interest. The tasks of the group shall be to analyse and advise the Commission on the impact of the digital transformation on EU labour markets and explore policy options, including: - Analysis of how to shape the transformation and what framework conditions to be put in place to make it smooth and human-centric; - Identification of the potential social impacts (risks and opportunities) of digitalisation, in particular the large-scale application of artificial intelligence, and the expected job losses and gains; - Developing responses to the impact digitalisation has on skills requirements; - Exploring viable ways to manage digitalisation's impact on labour law and working conditions; - Identifying ways to use digitalisation (in particular artificial intelligence) to make labour markets more inclusive; - Assessing the impact of digitalisation on income distribution and existing inequality and ways to respond to it; - Defining ways to adapt social security systems to ensure a high level of social protection for all forms of employment; - Evaluating mechanisms to adapt the tax and benefit system to ensure that fair contributions are paid and loopholes are avoided e.g. revision of taxation models; - Breaking down the potential effects of digitalisation by industry and sector of the economy. The HLG will hold its inaugural meeting in June 2018 and is expected to produce a report, with policy recommendations, by early 2019. The Chair of the HLG will be appointed by the Directors-General of DG CONNECT and DG EMPL; the Commission is seeking expressions of interest for the 9 remaining members of the HLG. The deadline to apply is 4 June 2018. Speaker Maria Grazia Turri (Università degli Studi di Torino) This event will be webcast live: http://nexa.polito.it/upcoming-events Gli analisti considerano Blockchain la più grande innovazione digitale dopo Internet. La crisi economica, che ha investito il pianeta nel 2007, è stata percepita sostanzialmente come una crisi dovuta al funzionamento dei sistemi monetari e finanziari. Una possibile risposta è stata offerta dalla tecnologia. L’idea che ha mosso gli ideatori e gli utilizzatori della blockchain è stata quella di trovare un *modo grazie al quale le decisioni potessero essere distribuite e il potere non fosse più concentrato* nelle mani di un decisore o di pochi attori economici, istituzionali e non. Oggi è evidente che grazie a blockchain il mercato finanziario e monetario si trova a dover fronteggiare oggetti “sconosciuti”, la cui natura è tutta da indagare. Quello che è certo è che grazie a queste tecnologie molte professioni potranno e dovranno cambiare o scomparire perché se blockchain consente davvero un trasferimento immediato e garantito del valore delle transazioni significa che le professioni che attualmente garantiscono efficienza e ruolo del diritto non potranno che subire una profonda trasformazione. *Interi settori *come quello finanziario, bancario e assicurativo per arrivare a quelli industriali e al consumo, fino alle categorie professionali degli avvocati, dei notai o dei commercialisti *saranno ribaltati*. Ancora più ricca di interrogativi sarà la sua influenza circa le modalità e le dinamiche di voto da parte dei singoli cittadini, poiché questo subirà profondi cambiamenti, modificando i metodi e i contenuti a cui ancoriamo il termine democrazia. L’obiettivo dell’incontro è presentare il problema, indagarne le conseguenze, aggiornarlo alle sue più recenti evoluzioni per *comprendere se le piattaforme blockchain siano effettivamente un possibile nuovo strumento di democrazia *o non portino invece a una “repubblica governata dagli informatici” piuttosto che alla “repubblica governata dei filosofi”, auspicata da Platone.
