As a backlash against Silicon Valley gathers momentum, Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff, speaking in Davos last month, called for Facebook to be regulated like a cigarette company because of the addictive and harmful properties of social media. That figure may be low, but we do know that a large portion of all stocks are owned in relatively new investment vehicles called Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) that represent a passive basket of stocks, and that a number of hedge funds are comprised of tens of billions of dollars investing not just in those ETFs, but in derivatives (instruments such as options or futures) that are structured to generate double or triple the returns of those ETFs, or the inverse. Most days, all those baskets and derivatives cancel each other out. But they sit there waiting for days when activity accelerates, pegged to programs that buy and sell based on how quickly prices are moving. The result is a market that is often placid but can take a slight wind and turn it into a selling vortex and then reverse direction and become a buying hurricane.[]

Ciao a Tutti, Sperando di non essere troppo fuori tema, vi segnalo che il 30 gennaio in vari cinema italiani verrà proiettato il documentario riguardante la community di fansubbing italiansubs.net <http://italiansubs.net/> (la più grande al mondo). Penso che possa interessare in quanto questo fenomeno, anche Il documentario racconta la nascita e lo sviluppo della community nei suoi 10 anni (ormai 11) di vita attraverso gli utenti che l’hanno creata e gestita. Nella presentazione si accenna all'incerta legalità dell’operato della community, mi piacerebbe sentire un parere di un giurista sull’argomento (che immagino sia già stato affrontato anche in qualche aula di tribunale). A naso, direi che la distribuzione dei sottotitoli (ovviamente, senza video o riferimenti espliciti ad essi e a come reperirli) non è lecita - senza il consenso del detentore dei diritti - in quanto traduzione dell’opera stessa (Art 18. Legge 633/1941), ma date le mie scarse conoscenze della materia non mi spingo oltre. La distribuzione del documentario è stata effettuata attraverso il portale Movieday. In molte sale saranno presenti anche alcuni membri del sito che introdurranno il film e risponderanno alle domande del pubblico.
