Cuba offers 3G mobile internet access to citizens

Oltre alla discutibile accessibilità, sostanzialmente non posso fare opt-out dai cookie di Google: se li inibisco ottengo captcha non valido.* * ** <https://www.inipec.gov.it/cerca-pec/-/pecs/companies> Oltretutto adesso richiede un bel po' di tempo (anche 10 quadri consecutivi) e il risutato incerto mi fa pensare di essere un robot. :-( Più che dimostrare di non essere un robot mi rifiuto di esserlo! Non viene esteso l'accesso al DNA dei parenti per incastrare i sospetti.. <https://www.lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2018/12/05/l-assemblee-nationale-reno…> L’Assemblée nationale, examinant le projet de loi de programmation 2018-2022 et de réforme pour la justice, est revenue, mardi 4 décembre, sur deux modifications qui devaient être apportées au fichier national automatisé des empreintes génétiques (Fnaeg). Lire aussi Justice : les principales dispositions d’un gigantesque projet de loi Ce fichier, créé en 1998 dans une France traumatisée par le périple meurtrier de Guy Georges, est devenu un des outils de prédilection de la police judiciaire. Lorsqu’une trace d’ADN (sperme, sang, salive, cheveux…) est récupérée sur une scène de crime, elle est immédiatement comparée au stock de cet énorme fichier. Et révèle, lorsque les enquêteurs sont chanceux, un nom. Originellement destiné à la lutte contre les crimes sexuels, il n’a cessé d’être élargi. Il est désormais alimenté dans un très grand nombre d’affaires, du terrorisme au trafic d’armes, en passant par le proxénétisme, le trafic de stupéfiants ou les violences volontaires. Vingt ans après sa création, il abrite donc aujourd’hui une masse considérable de données : presque trois millions de profils génétiques et 480 000 traces d’ADN non identifiées. Elargissement de la recherche « en parenté » En commission des lois et avec la bénédiction de la ministre de la justice, les députés avaient apporté une importante modification au cadre juridique du Fnaeg en élargissant les possibilités de recherche « en parenté ». Cette méthode de recherche a été introduite en France en 2011 par un capitaine de gendarmerie astucieux. Malgré les nombreuses traces d’ADN recueillies sur la scène de crime, l’enquête sur le meurtre d’Elodie Kulik — fortement médiatisé — est alors dans une impasse. Le gendarme s’engouffre dans un vide juridique : plutôt que de chercher une correspondance parfaite dans le Fnaeg, il cherche des individus dont le profil ADN ressemble à celui de leur suspect inconnu. Jusqu’ici muet, le fichier parle et amène les enquêteurs jusqu’à celui qui se révélera être le père d’un des meurtriers. Cette méthode a été utilisée sans cadre légal solide jusqu’à la réforme pénale de juin 2016 qui l’a cantonnée aux « personnes apparentées en ligne directe » au suspect. At TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin on the Startup Battlefield stage, Gravity Earth gave insight into how blockchain can be used to help refugees gain access to financial services and other resources to raise their standards of living. The Nairobi-based startup was founded by Johannes Ebert and Paul Langlois-Meurinne. It has developed a platform that allows a person’s digital data to be stored securely on its decentralized platform. That’s a lot of technical terminology, and in practice it translates to helping digitize data that can be used by NGOs who are working at refugee camps with some 80,000 people. In Gravity Earth’s case, it is close to its first deployment at a refugee camp in Kakuma, Kenya. The rollout will see Gravity Earth’s solution used to track daily attendance at three schools in the camp, and student’s academic performance. That’ll be based on biometric data, with teachers able to upload performance and test data via a web app. [...]

Facebook’s political ad tool let us buy ads “paid for” by Mike Pence and ISIS

But according to a small test run by VICE News, one of the new features Facebook rolled out this year is easily subject to manipulation. In May, Facebook added a mandatory “Paid For” disclosure for every ad that relates to politics or what Facebook calls an “issue of national importance.” The idea is to lift the veil on the kind of inflammatory ads placed by anonymous advertisers that plagued Facebook during the 2016 race. But when VICE News placed ads on behalf of prominent political figures such as Vice President Mike Pence, and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, Facebook quickly approved them. We also tried submitting an ad on behalf of “Islamic State,” which was also approved by Facebook. We were able to get Facebook’s approval for political ads that included these names within the Paid For disclosure. 1540484870860-facebook_ads-ad_comparison_02-highlight Using “Hillary Clinton” in the Paid For disclosure was denied by Facebook, but that didn’t prevent us from continuing to place political ads under other false names and bogus PACs. Facebook didn’t explain to VICE News why Hillary Clinton was denied. To be able to submit political ads on Facebook, we were required to submit a valid ID and proof of residence. That means Facebook knew who was behind the ads internally, but externally, Facebook users would see was completely made up Paid For information. After placing the ads, we reached out to Facebook, which said the ads should have never been approved. “Inaccurate disclaimers have no place on Facebook and these ads are no longer running,” said Rob Leathern, who leads Business Integrity product management team at Facebook. “Our goal is to increase transparency on Facebook and prevent foreign interference elections which is why we have implemented the authorization process and released the Ad Archive. Enforcement isn’t perfect - and we won't stop all people trying to game the system - but we have made it much harder and we will continue to improve.” A Facebook spokesperson told VICE News the company is developing closer relationships with election authorities who could flag potentially non-compliant disclaimers. Facebook also said that no foreign advertisers are permitted to place political ads in the U.S., but that didn’t stop VICE News from using exact copies of ads that were run by Russian agents during their 2016 disinformation campaign. Facebook told VICE News that the actual content of these ads did not violate its rules, only the fabricated Paid For disclosures. We made sure the ad that said it was Paid For by Mike Pence, which was approved, actually never actually ran on Facebook. [...]
