I agree it is a matter of power. The kind of power that oligopolies exert on society. It does not seem suitable to fight oligopolies with taxation. This is just a palliative for the symptoms, not a cure for the problem. Oligopolies are getting stronger and stronger, invading more and more areas of societies, exploiting internal subsidies to fund their expansions into other sectors. Google conquered the video distribution, then moved to autonomous vehicles, bought/sold Nest as well as Boston Dynamics, after appropriating of their technologies, it is dominating in Artificial Intelligence, applying it to healthcare through DeepMind. Amazon conquered all of ecommerce, starting from killing brick&mortar bookstores, then expanding to everyting, then entered the cloud business and now is entering into food (Whole Foods) and healthcare. -- Beppe

E interessante pensare invece come quegli stessi sensori montati su una auto "stupida" (sì lo so che nomln c'è intelligenza nei simulatori che vengono venduti come IA) avrebbero salvato la vita della vittima, avvisando il pilota umano. Ma la vera domanda qui è legale: chi ne risponde penalmente? O quantomeno chi ne risponderebbe penalmente in Italia. Si noti che ĺ'incidente era perfettamente prevedibile persino prima della messa in strada dell'auto a guida autonoma. Giacomo

Recall Facebook’s most famous hackathon, thrown on the eve of its IPO to show the world that the demands of being a public company would not kill the “hacker way” at One Hacker Way. Now, sponsors ranging from Fortune 500 conglomerates to conference organizers host them. Even New York Fashion Week and the Vatican have hosted hackathons. They’ve become part of a “toolkit” for large organizations seeking a veneer of innovation. Some organizers view them as recruiting opportunities, others as opportunities to evangelize their company’s technology platforms, and others simply want to be associated with something cool and techie.
