Centro Studi Etnografia Digitale <http://www.etnografiadigitale.it/>, Fondazione <ahref <http://www.ahref.eu/en>, Societing <http://www.societing.org/> and PhD program in Sociology at the University of Milano<http://www.scienzepolitiche.unimi.it/Dottorati/966_ITA_HTML.html>, are proud to announce the organization of the 2nd “Digital Ethnography Week”! *The DEW will take place during five days, between the 17 and the 21 of September 2012: an intensive week focused on the study of digital methods and digital ethnographic approaches. * * * The field of digital ethnography (also known as netnography, virtual ethnography, or cyberetnography) has been growing in recent years, and the focus has changed from looking at online phenomena as belonging to a world apart, to studying how online cultures, practices and life forms integrate, combine and shape off-line social life. During the DEW we want to *expand the concept of digital ethnography* even further, practically, theoretically and methodologically. We will build on the combined competences of the Centro Studi di Etnografia Digitale, the Fondazione <ahref, and Societing. *The week will feature world famous scholars along with experts from the Scientific Committee and the institutions organizing the week*. The program will last for *five days*. The *mornings* will be dedicated to *lectures*. È passato meno di un anno dall'uscita del libro "The International Free and Open Source Software Law Book" nel quale con l'amico e collega Carlo Piana avevo firmato il capitolo relativo al contesto italiano. Ora da quel capitolo (scritto in inglese) abbiamo tratto anche un articolo che, oltre ad essere in italiano e quindi risultare più facilmente fruibile dall'audience locale, ha un maggior livello di approfondimento delle questioni dottrinali dal punto di vista della scienza giuridica italiana. L'articolo si intitola "Il Free and Open Source software nell’ordinamento italiano: principali problematiche giuridiche", è uscito sul n. 1/2012 della rivista "Informatica e diritto" ed è rilasciato con licenza CC by-sa. Un progetto ideato da In collaborazione con BIG DIVE L'opportunità dei BIG DATA Dal 1 al 26 ottobre 2012 - Casa del Pingone, via della Basilica, 13 (TO) Il Consorzio TOP-IX organizza nel mese di ottobre BIG DIVE: 4 settimane intensive dedicate a formare developer, data scientist e visualization designer, figure professionali sempre più richieste dal mercato. Il "Web of Data" sta crescendo a ritmi vertiginosi e ha preso il via una nuova corsa all'oro, alla ricerca di un alto livello di conoscenze tecniche per operare in maniera concreta in questo nuovo settore. Grandi compagnie, PMI e startups hanno capito l'alto valore che può essere estratto dai BIG DATA e stanno investendo tempo, energie e molte risorse per formare una nuova classe di professionisti pronti a essere coinvolti nel processo produttivo. Le tre aree chiave in cui operare sono Development, Visualization e Data Science, competenze che difficilmente si ritrovano in un'unica figura professionale. BIG DIVE vuole colmare questo "gap". The decision may doom the entire prosecution of the founder of the file-sharing site Megaupload; New Zealand authorities are appealing. Justice Helen Winkelmann says that warrants for the raids "fell well short of" describing the offenses they were meant to relate. 28.06.2012 Internet la democrazia necessaria JUAN CARLOS DE MARTIN Sul rapporto tra Web e democrazia si è scritto e detto molto, a partire da Obama 2008 per arrivare ai successi del Movimento 5 Stelle in Italia e del Partito Pirata in Germania. È stata una discussione spesso poco produttiva. Un anno fa , ad esempio, in molti criticarono la tesi che Twitter e Facebook avessero direttamente causato la Primavera araba. Peccato, però, che nessuno di serio sostenesse tale tesi. Come è chiaro, infatti, anche al più entusiasta fan dei social network, tali strumenti sono facilitatori di determinati movimenti sociali, non certo cause prime. Per non parlare del fatto che Twitter e Facebook possono anche essere usati a fini di sorveglianza, delazione e propaganda. Insomma, un ruolo complesso, impossibile da ridurre a formule semplicistiche ne' in un senso (Internet non conta nulla) ne' nell'altro (Internet provoca rivoluzioni).
