Giornata internazionale dedicata alle donne in ambito STEM

Buongiorno, Vorrei segnalarvi l'evento "Finding Ada" che si terrà il 16 ottobre a Torino, presso il Municipio, e di cui allego il comunicato stampa e la locandina in bassa risoluzione. Si tratta di una giornata internazionale dedicata alle donne e ai loro successi in ambito STEM. Quest'anno il tema da noi scelto è il "sessismo nelle professionalità legate al mondo dell'ICT". All'evento partecipano varie relatrici, alcune iscritte a questa mailing list e anche il professor Meo (per maggiori dettagli vi rimando al comunicato stampa). Il sito è all'indirizzo: http://programmailfuturo.it Se ne è parlato durante l'estate ed ora è aperto! Credo che tutti si possa contribuire in molti modi: dal mandare osservazioni ad operare sul territorio. A una rapida scorsa le pagine sul web sembrano venute bene ma naturalmente si puó migliorare. More than one? Does it matter to you who knows it? As digital systems become more integrated into our lives, these questions are becoming very important. We're in the midst of a literal identity crisis where your identity is quickly becoming, rather than something you define, a social construct that is granted to you. This talk will explore the philosophy of names and identity, the digital systems we've created over the past decades, and the challenges that arise when the systems come into conflict with individual safety and freedom. We'll take a look at the current state of name-related policy within both companies and government, and introduce ongoing efforts to make sure your identity is not just a number in a computer. About aestetix After being suspended twice by Google Plus during the nymwars fiasco of 2011, aestetix helped created NymRights, focused on empowerment and education of digital identity. He's spoken on this topic at events in Germany, New York City, San Francisco, including hacker conferences, digital rights events, and even a few universities. He's also been involved in the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), an Obama strategy to try to solve identity related challenges in areas like medicine and social security.

Like other carriers, AT&T slows the speeds of certain users when the network is congested. Such network management is a necessary evil that can benefit the majority of customers when used to ensure that everyone can connect to the network. But as Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler has argued, the carriers’ selective enforcement of throttling shows that it can also be used to boost revenue by pushing subscribers onto pricier plans.
