She accepted the proposal initially put forward by counsel for the US government, that closing arguments should simply be submitted in writing and without an oral hearing. This was accepted by the defence, as they need time to address the new superseding indictment in the closing arguments, and Baraitser was not willing for oral argument to take place later than 8 October. By agreeing to written arguments only, the defence gained a further three weeks to put together the closing of their case. But this entire hearing has been conducted in effective secrecy, a comprehensive secrecy that gives sharp insight into the politico-economic structures of current western society. Physical access to the courtroom has been extremely limited, with the public gallery cut to five people. Video link access has similarly been extremely limited, with 40 NGOs having their access cut by the judge from day 1 at the Old Bailey, including Amnesty International, PEN, Reporters without Borders and observers from the European Parliament, among many others. The state and corporate media have virtually blacked out this hearing, with a truly worrying unanimity, and despite the implications of the case for media freedom. Finally, the corporations that act as internet gatekeepers have heavily suppressed social media posts about Assange, and traffic to those few websites which are reporting. JUL 28 – Personal Data, Surveillance and Contagion David Lyon Director, Surveillance Studies Centre; Professor, Department of Sociology, Queen's University Contact-tracing apps have been much in the news during the pandemic and as they represent particularly intimate tracking systems they have naturally been seen as a rather controversial form of surveillance. Yet as a “second wave” attempt to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus they are frequently seen as a highly plausible tech solution by Big Data advocates. In this talk, David Lyon will discuss the reasons why such systems would be thought of as a potentially undesirable form of surveillance, the range of contexts in which they are being used—from Singapore to Israel/Palestine to the UK, as well as in Canada—and the sorts of safeguards that should be in place where such systems are mooted. Che ovviamente impone prezzi e quantità. L'assessore Marnati ha avviato la procedura rapida per acquistare tre macchine "aperte". Ciao, da quando abbiamo avviato la comunità Decidiamo. https://decidiamo.it con primo progetto OpenRousseau https://openrousseau.org ci siamo resi conto della incompatibilità dello statuto del Movimento 5 Stelle con OpenRousseau stesso. Dalla comunità sono emerse quindi le analisi di revisione statutaria del M5S affinché questo possa essere compatibile con il progetto OpenRousseau, cioè integrare democrazia interna e partecipazione. Researchers have extracted the secret key that encrypts updates to an assortment of Intel CPUs, a feat that could have wide-ranging consequences for the way the chips are used and, possibly, the way they’re secured. The key makes it possible to decrypt the microcode updates Intel provides to fix security vulnerabilities and other types of bugs. Having a decrypted copy of an update may allow hackers to reverse-engineer it and learn precisely how to exploit the hole it’s patching.
