Il mondo del FOSS e piu` in generale quello dell'informatica non e` un universo a se` stante ma coesiste con il mondo della politica e ci interagisce. Il 16 settembre Linus con questa email http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1809.2/00117.html ha annunciato di prendersi una pausa dallo sviluppo del kernel. Inoltre si scusa per il suo comportamento aggressivo: "The above is basically a long-winded way to get to the somewhat painful personal admission that hey, I need to change some of my behavior, and I want to apologize to the people that my personal behavior hurt and possibly drove away from kernel development entirely. I am going to take time off and get some assistance on how to understand people's emotions and respond appropriately." Questo cambiamento, che non ha precedenti in 30 anni di benevola dittatura, rientra nel panorama molto piu` ampio dell'attuale conflitto ideologico fra le vecchie idee di selezione per merito e le piu` nuove idee di selezione per diversita`, fra il "technical coding" e il "social coding", alt-destre e la sinistra culturale. Salve, e' stato pubblicato un nuovo exploit del bug che ho recentemente segnalato a Mozilla e Google. Basically any old webpage can perform local network host discovery on you. > To implement this I made a webpage which attempts to load images from > addresses 192.168.1.x. The case for understandable software

"Scandalo" che fra pochi giorni tutti faranno finta di dimenticare e fra qualche mese nessuno ricorderà davvero. Come tanti che parlano impropriamente di FOSS, l'autore confonde Free Software e Open Source: il diritto di comprendere E modificare il software è fondamentale per il software libero, ma è una seccatura per le aziende che producono open source. La politica di Google sulla AGPL è una delle tante evidenze di questo fatto. Qualcuno però dovrebbe davvero spiegare a Mozilla l'importanza di garantire questo diritto fondamentale in una macchina virtuale (quale è Firefox) che scarica da internet ed esegue ciecamente software che può essere generato al volo e customizzato per attaccare l'utente esattamente come gli Ads. Ciao a tutti. Mi hanno telefonato dall’ufficio delle relazioni col pubblico del Garante, in risposta al messaggio che ho inviato ieri pomeriggio, e di seguito riportato. La risposta in sintesi è stata: l’Autorità mi fornirà un chiarimento scritto dopo aver superato l’attuale situazione di eccessivo carico di richieste di segnalazioni, nel frattempo rimane attendibile l’azione del CNIL ovvero quella di riconoscere come “cancellazione” l’azione di cifratura dei dati all’interno delle transazioni blockchain. Quindi, se la cancellazione fisica non è possibile, rimane valida la cancellazione logica. Tale suggerimento è descritto nel documento “Blockchain Observatory and Forum - Blockchain e GDPR”, capitolo “Blockchain e diritti e obblighi del GDPR”, nel punto “2. Minimizzazione dei dati e diritto di cancellazione e rettifica”. Domanda: è possibile considerare rettifica o cancellazione dei dati personali quanto suggerito da CNIL ? But they are not alone in using personal data for political influence. Since we began actively documenting this industry, our global list has expanded to 329 organisations, and it is still growing. We started our research by examining a few news articles that profiled data brokers and data analytics companies. From there, we began a series of in-depth investigations into the context of these companies – the work they do, their outreach and how they fit into a landscape of other organisations and actors. We reviewed the websites and promotional materials they produced, we conducted open-ended interviews with some of their staff members, and we attended industry events. Through this research, we mapped a digital campaigning industry whose breadth and depth far surpassed our expectations. This overview is the start of the a series in which we unpack our findings. There are two features of these organisations that are important to their impact on democratic processes. Firstly, most of them are for-profit companies, with the primary aim of generating, maintaining and growing revenue, a business model that inevitably guides their decisions rather than traditional political metrics such as voter participation. Facebook pondered, for a time, selling access to user data

The social media giant restricted some data access and eliminated all access to the earlier version by June 2015. However, some portions of the messages, which span 2012 through 2014, are incomplete.
