Non aveva ancora compiuto quarantadue anni. A lui si devono, oltre al resto, la macchina ideale nota come «macchina di Turing», ovvero il modello concettuale alla base del computer moderno, e il «test di Turing», ovvero la riflessione che diede il via agli studi sull'intelligenza artificiale. Ma Alan Turing, secondo Luciano Floridi, filosofo a Oxford e recentissimo vincitore del premio Weizenbaum, non fu solo un grande scienziato, fu uno di quei rari pensatori capaci di rivoluzionare il modo in cui l'umanità concepisce sé stessa. A market itself is such an emergent public good, celebrated as 'order without design' by Adam Smith. So too is language. Today emergent public goods, like Twitter, Facebook and Wikipedia, burgeon on the internet ushering in a new age. But there must exist a panoply of public goods which could be brought into existence by the right kind of partnership between private and public endeavor. This talk will explore that terrain providing compelling examples whilst expounding the principles on which such partnerships should be based. About Nicholas Nicholas Gruen is a widely published policy economist, entrepreneur and commentator who has been a regular columnist in the Courier Mail, the Australian Financial Review, the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. He has advised Cabinet Ministers, sat on Australia's Productivity Commission and founded Lateral Economics and Peach Financial. He chairs the Australian Federal Government's Innovation Australia Board, the Australian Centre for Social Innovation and the Partnership for Digital Services for Ecologically Sustainable Development and is Patron of the Australian Digital Alliance, which brings together Australia's libraries, universities, and major providers of digital infrastructure such as Google and Yahoo. He is a member of the Council of the National Library of Australia. He was second shareholder and Chairman of successful San Francisco based startup data analytics crowdsourcing platform Kaggle.com. He is an Angel investor in a number of other Australian startups including biNu.com a cloud based application delivering 'smart phone' capabilities to the feature phones of the developing world, OneTouch which is developing semantic document management systems, and of Roomz.com which aims to be the AirBnB for share houses as well as some silicon valley based startups. He was a member of a major review into Australia's Innovation System in 2008, a review of Pharmaceutical patent extensions in 2013. In 2009 he chaired Australia's internationally acclaimed Government 2.0 Taskforce. He has a BA (Hons) First Class in History (1981) and a PhD in Public Policy from the ANU (1998), and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Melbourne (1982).

In linea con le prescrizioni del Codice dell'amministrazione digitale, dette Linee guida indirizzano l'azione della pubblica amministrazione verso una adeguata gestione dei dati ai fini dell'attuazione dei principi e degli obiettivi delineati con l'Agenda nazionale. Le attività svolte dal gruppo di lavoro hanno consentito di aggiornare completamente il documento dello scorso anno. Pertanto, le Linee guida 2014 sostituiscono integralmente quelle del 2013. Come previsto, il documento viene ora condiviso con tutti gli interessati che potranno proporre integrazioni e modifiche nel periodo di consultazione pubblica, dal 5 al 20 giugno prossimi. Sure, you could say that about any week on the Internet. But last week delivered some prime material. Check out this gamer exploding in fury at the rumor that Google --- "The King Midas of Shit!" --- might buy the hugely popular streaming gamer site Twitch TV. Or this sad note from the founder of the venerable "community weblog" MetaFilter explaining why a Google-precipitated decline in advertising revenue had forced him to lay off three much beloved staffers. Or this diatribe from a Facebook manager, savaging the current state of the media. All is not well on the Web. While the particulars of each outburst of consternation and anger vary significantly, a common theme connects them all: The relentless corporatization and centralization of control over Internet discourse is obviously not serving the public interest. The good stuff gets co-opted, bought out, or is reduced to begging for spare change on the virtual street corner. The best minds of our generation have been destroyed by web metrics, dragging themselves across a vast wasteland in search of the next clickbait headline. The man had just been fired for getting poor ratings from passengers. But as a private contractor, like every other driver for the app based transportation network, he had no recourse to the company. Even worse, the man and his wife had sunk $39,000 of their own money into buying an SUV for the express purpose of him driving for Uber. Ajema recalls the man being on the verge of tears. What could he do? Two Sundays ago, a couple hundred Uber drivers provided an answer, by forming a labor group with the help of the local Teamsters union, called the App-Based Drivers Association. The group won't have the full powers of a union, for instance leadership can't vote to make its entire membership strike. Google launches 'right to be forgotten' webform for removal requests Company responds to EU court ruling empowering citizens to have certain links about them deleted from search results Google has launched a webpage where European citizens can request that links to information about them be taken off search results, the first step to comply with a court ruling affirming the "right to be forgotten". The company, which processes more than 90% of all web searches in Europe, has made available a webform through which people can submit their requests but has stopped short of specifying when it will remove links that meet the criteria for being taken down. Google said it had convened a committee of senior executives and independent experts to try and craft a long-term approach to dealing with what is expected to be a barrage of requests from people in the EU.
