The Information Policy Book Series at MIT Press is welcoming proposals. For a description of the series and books published to date, see https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/series/information-policy. Note the breadth of the definition of the field and its inclusion of attention to governance and governmentality as well as the formal laws and regulations of governments within the series. Work from all theoretical perspectives, using any methodological approach, and at any level of analysis is welcome. MIT Press encourages positive policy proposals in the books it publishes. Will work as closely with authors as desirable or necessary in the development of projects. Public health measures combined with tech solutionism is taking surveillance to the next level. Surveillance has become more and more normalized into our lives. Contact tracing apps and wearables are being introduced while governments are discussing immunity passports and long-term border restrictions. The global economy is in the opening stages of a recession which means that the inequalities will grow further in the aftermath of this pandemic. We are moving more of our lives online. Telemedicine and online classrooms are likely to become staples of everyday life. Amidst all these changes, is there also a change in the way we are looking at things and rethinking the possible? What will be the legacy of this pandemic on human rights including privacy and data protection? How do we enforce individual and collective rights in a changing world? The theme of CPDP2021 is ‘Enforcing Rights in a Changing World’. We welcome cutting edge panels in all areas related to technology, privacy and data protection, but particularly invite proposals that fit the general conference theme. CfP Data Protection at a Time of Social Emergency | CPDP LatAm

Dear colleagues, As many of you already know, the Latin American editions of the Computers, Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) conference – originally planned for June 2020, at FGV, in Rio de Janeiro – has been postponed due to the Covid19 outbreak. Considering the extremely difficult challenges determined by the current pandemic, the CPDP team (https://cpdp.lat/en/about-us/) has decided to try make the best out of the current situation and redefine the call for papers with some relevant updates. The call is now dedicated to Data Protection at a Time of Social Emergency: COVID-19, Democracy, Innovation and Regulation in Latin America<https://cpdp.lat/en/call-for-rapid-response-papers/> and the most relevant updates include: 1. Themes. Suggested subjects now include a variety of topics focusing on how personal data are utilised to deal with emergencies and, particularly, the Covid19 crisis in the region and above 2. Remuneration and prizes. In light of the catastrophic consequences that the current crises is going to deploy on the economy and, among others, on researchers, we have decided to provide a salary of 5000 Brazilian reais (equivalent to approximately 1000 USD at the current exchange rate) to all papers selected for publication. In partnership with the Computer Law and Security Review we have also decided to create a prize for the best interdisciplinary paper, also of 5000 Brazilian reais. (Authors may also choose to refuse to receive a stipend and devolve it to a charity – yet to be identified – to support people adversely affected by the Covid19 pandemic 3. Deadlines. Considering that original deadlines where conceived having CPDP LatAm in mind, we have redefined them, transforming the call into a Call for Rapid Response Papers.
