GigaNet is an international association of academic researchers with a focus on the multidisciplinary field of Internet Governance. It was founded in 2006 and is open to researchers from all over the world who are contributing to local, regional and international debates on Internet Governance. GigaNet is now accepting proposals for papers to be presented at its annual symposium in Guadalajara. Authors from any field of study, methodological or theoretical approach, working any aspect of Internet governance are invited to submit their work. Proposals can be submitted in English or Spanish language. They need to be anonymous which means no names or other personal data should appear on uploaded pdf files. However, applicants need to fill in the Easychair form with their names and data requested. GigaNet encourages emerging scholars to submit their proposals. Call for Applications: Transatlantic Digital Debates

Dear all: The Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi)<http://www.gppi.net/home/> in Berlin and New America<http://www.newamerica.org/> in Washington, DC, are seeking fellows for the inaugural round of Transatlantic Digital Debates<http://www.transatlanticdigitaldebates.net/home/>. Transatlantic Digital Debates is a dialogue program that brings together nine young professionals from Germany and nine from the US to meet for two week-long sessions in summer and fall 2016. It is funded by the Transatlantic Program from the German Federal Government. Fellows will engage in discussions on innovation, regulation in the digital economy as well as cybersecurity and privacy. We are accepting applications from now until May 1, 2016. Best regards, Isabel Skierka Call for Applications Transatlantic Digital Debates is a joint project between the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) and New America that brings together young professionals from Germany and the United States who are committed to finding answers to key challenges that sit at the intersection of technology and policy. We seek 18 participants who work in civil society, academia, politics and business and who are willing to explore and challenge each other’s ideas concerning the future of the digital economy and cybersecurity in Europe and the US. The fellows will have the opportunity to debate and discuss their ideas with leading experts and practitioners from different sectors. They will emerge from the program with a broader understanding of the pressing issues that will define transatlantic relations in the coming years and with new ideas on how to tackle respective challenges. We hope that our fellows will form a strong network of future decision-makers in the US and Germany. Over the course of 2016, the fellows will meet for two week-long dialogue sessions in Germany and in the US. Discussions will center on two issue areas: on innovation and regulation in the digital economy as well as on cybersecurity and privacy. The two dialogue sessions will take place in Berlin and Munich (July 9–16, 2016) and in San Francisco and Washington, DC (November 12–19, 2016). The fellows of Transatlantic Digital Debates will disseminate the results of their work through blog posts on the program website, op-eds in major publications, and high-profile presentations. The application deadline is May 1, 2016, at 23:59 Central European Time (CET). Application Requirements Interested applicants must: * Be a citizen of Germany or the United States. * Have at least three years of professional experience. * Be under the age of 35. * Demonstrate a strong interest in internet and technology policy and in contributing to addressing emerging global challenges. * Have an outstanding academic record and an excellent command of English. * Demonstrate commitment, motivation and leadership. * Be able to attend both sessions of the program. Successful candidates will be asked to provide written confirmation from their employers agreeing to the time commitment. Please submit your application as a single PDF file. [NoC Hangout Series] Internet Bill of Rights Call Invitation

Dear Colleagues, We are writing to share details regarding our second learning call on the *Internet* *Bill of Rights *(Italian Declaration, Marco Civil and other related efforts), which will take place on *Tuesday, April 19th, from 8:45-10:00am Eastern Time* (for ease, the following converter can be used to identify the time of the hangout in your local time zone: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html) This call will be co-led by Juan Carlos De Martin of the Nexa Center for Internet & Society, and Ronaldo Lemos and Fabro Steibel of ITS Rio. They have provided the following description: / / The Internet is an extraordinary space that enables innovation, growth and - more generally - human flourishing. Preserving liberty, equality, dignity, and solidarity is crucial to ensuring the democratic functioning of the Internet and to avoiding the predominance of public and private powers that may lead to a society of surveillance, control, and social selection. For this reason, many individuals and organizations have been advocating for years the need for an Internet Bill of Rights (or Internet Magna Carta), a step towards a constitutionalization of supranational Internet principles and rights. Brazil and Italy have already moved in such a direction by approving the Marco Civil da Internet (Brazil, April 2014) and the Declaration of Internet Rights (Italy, July 2015) respectively. What is the role of such initiatives in ensuring that the Internet remains a global space based on human rights and democracy for future generations?
