Quindi quelle ragioni che citi di fatto non sussistono più, dal momento che quei dati che Facebook non riesce a prendere dalla piattaforma principale (per regolamentazione o scelta dell'utente), li ottiene dai sistemi delle sue società controllate (non solo Whatsapp, ma anche Instagram e diverse altre) Come dire, se non riesce ad entrare dalla porta, lo fa dalla finestra... La Commissione analizzò anche l'eventualità che in un ipotetico futuro Facebook utilizzasse i dati a disposizione di WhatsApp a fini di targeted advertising, ma sposò le allegazioni della prima società secondo cui: - "the data that WhatsApp has access to is at best of marginal utility for Facebook’s advertising purposes and would not enhance Facebook’s ability to target advertisements on its services" - "Facebook has publicly made it clear that it has no current plans to modify WhatsApp’s collection and use of user data" - Il CEO di WhatsApp aveva commentato l'operazione dicendo che la privacy è nel DNA della "sua" società e che "“if partnering with Facebook meant that we had to change our values, we wouldn’t have done it.” - Facebook allegò che tecnicamente sarebbe quasi impossibile, e ci sarebbe da ridere, "to match each user's WhatsApp profile with her/his Facebook profile" - Non ci sarebbero incentivi a usare i dati di WhatsApp, perché gli utenti di questa, tanto affezionati alla loro privacy, avrebbero abbandonato WhatsApp in favore di Telegram (lock-in ed effetto di rete, questi sconosciuti!!)
