Dear colleagues, we cordially invite you to an online lecture by Prof Paola Cantarini. *The Governance of AI – From Digital Literacy to Imaginal Literacy* Time: Oct 6, 2025 04:00 PM Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86335504649?pwd=2cDOKwaCdWUSOnJuMbbrbvLnISjarF.1 Abstract: In the face of the algorithmization of life and the capture of the future, how can we imagine a possible future—as becoming, open to possibilities and not limited by algorithmic options? The logic of current AI operates according to previsionary—i.e., anticipatory—models: it learns from the past (historical data) to predict future behaviors. This generates a conception of the future as a statistical extension of the present, and a mechanism of preventive control. This way of predicting the future kills the yet-to-come: there is no room for the unexpected, the impossible, the unprecedented. Relying on zetetics and constant questioning, which are philosophical approaches by nature, we wager on a necessary relation between the human and the technical, through a critical-poietic analysis as a manual for epistemic diversity and algorithmic justice. In light of this, we posit: beyond digital literacy toward the quantum-imaginal, where education and knowledge are the central points in the Knowledge Economy (Mangabeira Unger), grounded in imagination and creativity.
