Il che peraltro, almeno nei fatti, non è nemmeno totalmente vero. Basti pensare che Micron ha preso una costola di ST Microelectronics (Numonyx) e che sia Cadence che Synopsys sono state fondate da Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli. Basti pensare alla visione di ST Micro di comprare INMOS che sviluppava processori paralleli che poi comunque hanno avuto un impatto sui loro prodotti successivi. E che con il rilancio dell'HPC e delle architetture hw per AI/ML sarebbero state delle competenze fondamentali. Diciamo che per gli italiani e le aziende italiane che si occupano di tecnologie ed in particolare di tecnologie digitali, vale il Nemo Propheta in Patria. Peraltro, nel PNR la presenza massiccia di temi di ricerca nel settore del digitale è confortante. Molto tardiva, ma confortante. Negli anni passati sembrava che in Italia la ricerca su questi temi fosse scomparsa. Nel vecchio PNR se ne vedeva un pochino nel tema Fabbrica Intelligente e in quello Smart Communities.
