La (triste) verità è purtroppo, a mio parere che, in Italia, l'opinione pubblica, intesa come soggetto capace di dare un giudizio etico complessivo su un tema, è morta, logorata da troppi anni in cui si è cercato di giustificare tutto l'ingiustificabile. Non si riesce ad avere un dibattito serio su questioni di base,che riguardano direttamente la vita quotidiana dei cittadini, come la giustizia, l'evasione fiscale, l'immigrazione, la disoccupazione, quindi non mi sorprende più di tanto che una vicenda di cui comunque la maggior parte della gente capisce poco, e che è tutt'ora percepita come "distante", non venga presa in grande considerazione. Fabio Chiusi da sempre si distingue per la precisione e tempestività con cui segue questi temi (dai tempi di Wikileaks), e alcuni altri giornalisti/ricercatori lavorano bene, ma la media dei grandi media è francamente demoralizzante.
Qui negli USA, dove mi trovo per un periodo di studio, il dibattito è molto ampio, informato e profondo.
A proposito: sappiate che qui si dice che i leader europei avevano autorizzato, eccome, gli USA a fare sorveglianza di massa dei loro cittadini. Di conseguenza comportamenti a la Merkel sono penose sceneggiate, fatte per nascondere le proprie responsabilità.

This Friday is the Open Government Partnership London summit. The OGP is a project to bring people dedicated to transparency from across the world to make governments more accountable.
ORG will be leading a panel on transparency and surveillance<http://www.opengovpartnership.org/get-involved/london-summit-2013/agenda/ses...>. We will be calling for Government to back its basic commitment to ‘open society' by extending that idea to surveillance. We will look at how these issues relate and how to protect human rights while enhancing openness.
The panel will be led by Mort Halperin (OSF) and includes Ian Brown (Oxford Internet Institute), Jim Killock (ORG), Jacqueline Peschard (Federal Institute for Access to Public Information, Mexico), David Banisar (Article 19) and a representative of Brazilian government. *Join a cryptoparty!*
Cryptoparties are a global movement: each one is an open event to help people protect their computer and their private data. They are aimed at complete beginners so you don’t need any technical knowledge to come along. Purtroppo il tuo pessimismo è tutt'altro che ingiustificato, Federico. Come tutte le cose umane, però, anche questa situazione non è irreversibile. Cambiare in meglio è certamente difficile, ma non impossibile. Primo passo: identificare - sine ira et studio - le cause della situazione attuale. E da questo punto di vista le responsabilità dei 'chierici' italiani sono spaventose: giornalisti, professionisti, accademici, politici, ecc. hanno fatto (e fanno tuttora) a gara per servire il potente (o il potere) di turno, facendo a pezzi la logica, sbeffeggiando la verità (anche la più fattuale, anche la più evidente!), adoperando tutto l'arsenale dei più biechi sofismi, sostenendo tutto e il contrario di tutto (a volte nello spazio di giorni, se non di ore), denunciando come "moralista" qualsiasi osservazione etica, deridendo qualsiasi riflessione che provasse a distaccarsi dal cinismo più squallido (spacciato per virile realismo), abrogando il concetto stesso di 'coerenza'. La loro responsabilità è gravissima non solo perché hanno contribuito a tenere il dibattito pubblico italiano a livelli (in media) infimi, ma anche perché hanno gravemente intaccato la reputazione delle loro rispettive professioni (professioni che hanno perà anche loro gravi responsabilità, visto che assai raramente hanno attivato anticorpi deontologici, ammesso ne abbiamo). Ci vorranno molti anni per ricostruire quello che loro hanno distrutto (o per far nascere quello che loro hanno, di fatto, ostacolato). Molto difficile. Concordo con te, Juan Carlos, negli ultimi due o tre decenni abbiamo assistito, come argomentano fra gli altri John Lloyd e Ferdinando Gugliano nel recente "Eserciti di carta", a una sistematica e costante delegittimazione del ruolo dell'arbitro, in qualsiasi campo. Come tutte le cose umane, però, anche questa situazione non è irreversibile. Cambiare in meglio è certamente difficile, ma non impossibile.
Primo passo: identificare - sine ira et studio - le cause della situazione attuale.
E da questo punto di vista le responsabilità dei 'chierici' italiani sono spaventose: giornalisti, professionisti, accademici, politici, ecc. hanno fatto (e fanno tuttora) a gara per servire il potente (o il potere) di turno, facendo a pezzi la logica, sbeffeggiando la verità (anche la più fattuale, anche la più evidente!), adoperando tutto l'arsenale dei più biechi sofismi, sostenendo tutto e il contrario di tutto (a volte nello spazio di giorni, se non di ore), denunciando come "moralista" qualsiasi osservazione etica, deridendo qualsiasi riflessione che provasse a distaccarsi dal cinismo più squallido (spacciato per virile realismo), abrogando il concetto stesso di 'coerenza'.
La loro responsabilità è gravissima non solo perché hanno contribuito a tenere il dibattito pubblico italiano a livelli (in media) infimi, ma anche perché hanno gravemente intaccato la reputazione delle loro rispettive professioni (professioni che hanno perà anche loro gravi responsabilità, visto che assai raramente hanno attivato anticorpi deontologici, ammesso ne abbiamo). Ci vorranno molti anni per ricostruire quello che loro hanno distrutto (o per far nascere quello che loro hanno, di fatto, ostacolato).
Molto difficile. Ma non impossibile.

Fabio Chiusi da sempre si distingue per la precisione e tempestività con cui segue questi temi (dai tempi di Wikileaks), e alcuni altri giornalisti/ricercatori lavorano bene, ma la media dei grandi media è francamente demoralizzante.
Qui negli USA, dove mi trovo per un periodo di studio, il dibattito è molto ampio, informato e profondo.
A proposito: sappiate che qui si dice che i leader europei avevano autorizzato, eccome, gli USA a fare sorveglianza di massa dei loro cittadini. Di conseguenza comportamenti a la Merkel sono penose sceneggiate, fatte per nascondere le proprie responsabilità.

This Friday is the Open Government Partnership London summit. The OGP is a project to bring people dedicated to transparency from across the world to make governments more accountable.
ORG will be leading a panel on transparency and surveillance<http://www.opengovpartnership.org/get-involved/london-summit-2013/agenda/ses...>. We will be calling for Government to back its basic commitment to ‘open society' by extending that idea to surveillance. We will look at how these issues relate and how to protect human rights while enhancing openness.
The panel will be led by Mort Halperin (OSF) and includes Ian Brown (Oxford Internet Institute), Jim Killock (ORG), Jacqueline Peschard (Federal Institute for Access to Public Information, Mexico), David Banisar (Article 19) and a representative of Brazilian government. *Join a cryptoparty!*
Cryptoparties are a global movement: each one is an open event to help people protect their computer and their private data. They are aimed at complete beginners so you don’t need any technical knowledge to come along. We’d like to help more of these events take place so everyone can understand how to protect themselves from surveillance.
