This does not mean finding “best practices” for “ethical use” of a specific technology. This does not mean pressing pause for a time, only to restart when everybody has calmed down. This does not mean selling facial recognition to everybody but police. All of those reforms leave in place a system of control that is already too dangerous, too expansive, and too powerful. Casting in amber the existing arrangement of technological politics is not good enough. Not all innovation deserves to exist; much of the technologies that fuel surveillance and policing should never have been created in the first place. Oppure vogliamo fare il "cherry picking" di quali sono le "tecnologie" (il software) buone e quelle "cattive"? Per esempio, ci sono ormai valangate di evidenze che portano alla conclusione che l'esecuzione dei Javascript nei browser è altamente tossica: anche per quello proporrei il divieto! :-) Non è piuttosto che il problema risiede nel sempre maggiore squilibro di potere _inglobato_ nella tecnologia, Internet ne è la dimostrazione *lampante* (chi è sufficientemente potente fa un po' quello che vuole con il software e i dati che girano nella rete) ...a ecco: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- The existing order of power is untenable.
