Acta, ultima chance! (per bloccarla!)
Da "La Quadrature du net". ================================ ACTA: Participation needed for Last Crucial Step Before Final Vote Dear friend, We are writing to you because you signed an open letter ( http://www.laquadrature.net/en/acta-a-global-threat-to-freedoms-open-letter ) to the European Parliament against ACTA, two years ago. Much happened since when, and the final steps on ACTA are upcoming. We have not won yet, and mobilisation is crucial. On June 21st, the "International Trade" (INTA) committee of the EU Parliament will vote on whether to adopt its report on ACTA, which will mark the last procedural step before the Parliament's final vote. Currently, the draft report by David Martin (UK, S&D) recommends ACTA's rejection. However, the pro-ACTA conservatives (EPP, led by Swedish Christopher Fjellner), and some of their allies (British conservatives of the ECR led by Syed Kamall) will attempt to amend the recommendation (http://www.laquadrature.net/wiki/INTA_ACTA_report_amendments ). They are strongly supported by industry lobbies and the EU Commission, who wish to either turn the INTA report into a call for adopting ACTA, or at least delay the final vote. Industry lobbies have already put together a website in support of ACTA and are sending many letters to MEPs ( http://www.actafacts.com/ ). The vote's result in INTA will be decisive for the upcoming final vote of the EU Parliament, scheduled for the beginning of July (vote in plenary on July 3, 4 or 5th, conference of Presidents will decide on the exact date a week before). We need to stay mobilized and watchful until the vote is closed. Our opponents have already used last-minute tricks during previous committee votes in ITRE and LIBE, and we can expect this to continue. We count on you to take action against ACTA, previously to the June 21st's vote. We set up a phone tool http://piphone.lqdn.fr to allow citizens to call their MEPs for free. We are available to answer any question that may help your participation in these crucial upcoming steps. La Quadrature du Net PS: We just launched a new fundraising campaign. La Quadrature du Net has been informing about ACTA for the past four years, and now that the final steps lay right before us, we are once again at risk: our financial situation may force us to stop funding full-time staff -and therefore be unable to do as much as we do today- as early as in August or September... Please keep in mind that most important is the post-ACTA world we are already preparing, the positive agenda that we have an occasion to push for.
