Grazie, vedo che il nipote di Robert Oppenheimer cita il nonno, che dice accomiatandosi dallo staff che coordinò nei laboratori di Los Alamos: “If you are a scientist you believe that it is good to find out how the world works; that it is good to find out what the realities are; that it is good to turn over to mankind at large the greatest possible power to control the world and to deal with it according to its lights and its values.” Sono belle parole, forse un poco retoriche, alle quali andrebbero affiancate anche altre sue parole, dette quasi 10 anni dopo, sulle quali forse è bene riflettere nel contesto attuale: «when you see something that is technically sweet, you go ahead and do it and you argue about what to do about it only after you have had your technical success. That is the way it was with the atomic bomb. I do not think anybody opposed asking it; there were some debates about what to do with it after it was made.
