Discussion:

The importance of content within educational environments is well established in literature, despite the potential philosophical debate between knowledge and content is vital. For instance, content may refer to materials (images or text within literary or artistic work) and their significance. E-learning development produced various tools to promote content development; however, literature seems to neglect: methodologies for their assessment regarding their key features or technical issues.!

Content authoring in e-learning enables numerous potential “authors” as for example: vendors, lecturers or even learners. Likewise, these multiple creators face different various ethical (e.g. ethicultural sensitivity), social (e.g. learning styles or emotional states), legal (e.g. intellectual property) or political (e.g. international versus national regulations) dilemmas that require an urgent debate. In conclusion, this special issue aims to achieve a transdisciplinary debate among technologists versus ethicists about content authoring in educational environments.
