A Tenure Track Research position (junior or senior) is available in “Intelligent Big Data Research” at Bruno Kessler Foundation, Center for Information Technology - FBK ICT. Job Description: The FBK center for ICT is looking for a candidate to carry out research activities in the field of Computational Methods for Big Data Analysis and Modeling. A huge amount of data is be available nowadays from several heterogeneous sources (including sensors, the Web, bioinformatics applications, etc.). The analysis, extraction of useful information, organization and modeling of such amount of data is one of the most compelling challenges in research. The successful candidate will develop innovative solutions for complex data exploration, identification of significant patterns in datasets of very high dimensionality and/or size, semantic heterogeneity management and modeling of data generated at high rates by heterogeneous sources. The research activity will focus on developing computational frameworks that can cope with novel challenges in mining, discovering, and modeling relationships between subsets of the features describing a complex dataset. A proven attitude to modeling of big data sets (e.g. based on semantic techniques and linked data management) and data analysis techniques (e.g. statistical machine learning, identification of significant patterns in datasets of very high dimensionality and/or size), is requested. The candidate is expected to carry out research, contributing to collaborative projects as well as supporting the participation of FBK in international challenges. Job requirements: - Applicants should have a PhD degree in Science and Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Information Science/Technology, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Physics) - Relevant experience in research, development and application of Complex Data Analysis and/or Modeling - Excellent scientific background; an international peer-reviewed track record of publications in relevant journals and internationally-ranked conferences - Ability to work and deliver in funded research projects as well as commitment to develop collaborative relationships with other research staff in the pursuit of research objectives - Oral and written proficiency (level: upper-intermediate or higher) in English Additional requirements: - Experience in international projects and data challenges at high international visibility - Ability to work in a collaborative environment, ability and commitment to develop collaborative relationships with other research staff in the pursuit of research objectives - Ability and experience in project proposal preparation - Soft skill (communication, teambuilding, organization of scientific events, mentoring students, problem solving etc.) - Experience in collaborations with industry and commitment to future industrial and end-user engagements Due to FBK's attempt to promote equal opportunity and gender balance, in case of equal applications, female candidates will be given preference.
