Some of our AC are speculating that eBay’s willingness to remove listings against mere allegations of patent abuse may stem from the L’Oreal case a few years back. In any case although it is not completely clear, it seems that trusted IP holders can under the VeRO programme remove what they like from eBay on grounds of patent infringement within the EU. Does anyone have any ability to shed light on why eBay is extending such sweeping powers to patent holders? And also, does anyone here have contact with any EU policy staff at eBay? Jim
