What I mean by "Open EU-level microprocessors" is already explained in detail in this post and messages to the FTA mailing list, to be read in that order: http://stop.zona-m.net/2012/09/it-is-time-for-european-microprocessors-and-f... http://mail.freeknowledge.eu/pipermail/fta-discussion/2012-October/000492.ht... http://mail.freeknowledge.eu/pipermail/fta-discussion/2012-October/000497.ht... I've been told that the idea may be worth a proposal for funding under this EU FP7 call: http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/page/cooperation?callIdenti... I will send the proposal by myself anyway, but I'd much rather do it with partners. This is something I can and am willing to lead, but surely cannot do alone. And being able to say in the proposal that X, Y and Z have formally expressed interest in participating (with X, Y, Z being faculties, uni departments, companies, individual professionals, whatever) would add weight to it. Wouter said it could be good to create an FKI working group on this topic. I'll do it asap. Apart from the group, whoever is interested please let me know, and please do circulate this call as much as you can. Thanks in advance for any feedback, and have a great 2013!
