We hope you can join us for a symposium on “International Regulatory Trends on Personal Data Protection”
which will take place on November 14, 2014 at the University of Chile, Santiago de Chile.
The event will convene a diverse group of collaborators working on Internet & society issues in Chile, the surrounding region, and internationally.
It is hosted by Center of Studies in Informatics Law, University of Chile’s Law School, and will also serve as a Network of Centers (NoC) regional event.

The symposium will encompass three thematic sessions, each of which will be introduced by a keynote speech, and followed by a panel discussion.
The first session will examine how personal data and its protection has evolved due to the ease of access generated by the new technologies.
The second session will focus on the role and powers of Data Protection Authorities in different countries, also with the goal of informing the ongoing debate
on the establishment of an Authority in Chile. The third session will discuss the relationship between data protection and other fields of regulation,
especially consumer protection, freedom of speech, and intermediary responsibility.

We will be happy to share any relevant information regarding logistics and organization in case you are able to join.
