Everybody is Talking About AI & Ethics | Come Join the Debate

Keynote: Wojciech Wiewiórowski
Assistant Supervisor, European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS)

Summit Moderator: John C Havens
Executive Director, The Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in the Design of Autonomous Systems

Dear Juan Carlos De Martin,
IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. We are delighted to be hosting a major European Summit on Artificial Intelligence and Ethics and you are invited to attend as our guest.

Recently not a day passes by without the subject of Artificial Intelligence being discussed in the global media. The advent and increased sophistication of autonomous systems offers significant potential benefits in diverse application domains including manufacturing and transportation, healthcare and financial services, exploration, maintenance and repair. As well as cost and risk reduction, potential benefits include enhanced productivity, precision and accuracy, better health outcomes, lower mortality and injury rates due to human error, as well as opportunities for greater human creativity. These are counter-balanced by a broad range of ethical, social, philosophical and legal concerns, including further dehumanising warfare, creating existential threats and damaging the fabric of human society.

Our Summit, in a series of three lively panel discussions with leading voices from the AI and ethics fields, shall consider the balance between AI technologies and the ethics that underpin their development. This is quite simply a 'must attend' event, if you, your peers or your business need to understand the present and likely future direction of AI. Join a  unique audience of policy-makers, technologists, legal minds and thinkers on Tuesday 15 November at the Sofitel, Brussels and consider with our audience the question: Artificial Intelligence & Ethics - Who does the thinking?
