Dear colleagues,
I hope this mail finds you well despite the extremely complicated pandemic period.
This email is to inform you that the conference on The Digital State | L’État Digital, will take place next week, from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 March, entirely online. The conference is jointly organised by the Center for Technology and Society of FGV Law School and the Center for Comparative Public Law of Paris 2 University, Panthéon-Assas. The full programme in English and French can be accessed here bit.ly/EtatDigital
We will have an incredibly reach agenda, with 36 speakers from 15 countries (including several members of this list) who will explore national strategies, regulations, and concrete case studies of what is increasingly labelled “Digital Transformation” of the State. We will explore an ample range of topics, including the use of algorithmic and AI tools to automatise public services, digital identity initiatives, cybersecurity strategies, and digital sovereignty and data protection frameworks.
Paper presentations will be in French (for Francophone authors) or English (for Anglophone authors) and final versions of the presented papers will be included in a volume to be published by the end of 2021.
Given that one of the main outcomes of last week’s First EU-Brazil Conference on Digital Economy and Innovation (you can check the recordings here) has been to call for further joint research projects in critical areas such as digital transformation, we are particularly proud to provide such a rapid and concrete response, fostering a constructive dialogue on how the state is responding to digital transformation and should proactively frame it.
