Invitation to Collaborate: Join the Worldwide Research Network of the Global Index on Responsible AI
Dear colleagues, I hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to invite expressions of interest from members of the Network of Centers (NoC) to participate as research partners in the 2nd Edition of the Global Index on Responsible AI (GIRAI). GIRAI is a global initiative evaluating responsible AI commitments and practices across 140+ countries and jurisdictions and it is the first of its kind to be led from the Majority World. The first edition had notable global impact, with findings informing national AI strategies in countries like Colombia and Kenya, and being cited in reports by UNESCO and UNDP. For this edition, we seek independent research organizations based in Europe and North America to join our Global Research Network and lead data collection efforts for one or more regional countries. This would involve approximately 20 hours of training in September, followed by an estimated 40-60 hours of data collection and review between October and December 2025. Partners will also support regional collaboration and contribute to policy-relevant insights grounded in local expertise. We expect data collection to be led by Master’s or Ph.D. level researchers with expertise in AI governance or digital policy, ideally with prior experience contributing to governance assessments in their countries. This is an in-kind collaboration, as funding has been prioritized for Majority World countries and underrepresented regions. All outputs will be published in open, reusable formats under open licensing to ensure transparency and global accessibility. Attached is a brief proposal <https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1PpnGe7p4paa6mH_HycUePVXKmNAcWMLNejMp...> with further details on the initiative, roles, and expected time commitments. If your organization is interested or would like to discuss further, we would be happy to arrange a short call. You are also welcome to reach out directly with any questions or expressions of interest. Kind regards, Fola Adeleke, PhD Executive Director Global Center on AI Governance <https://www.globalcenter.ai/>
