Dear All,

tomorrow the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society will host an exciting talk by visiting researcher Clara Iglesias Keller (Public Law Doctoral Candidate at the Rio de Janeiro State University – UERJ). She will talk about Data Protection and regulation of online service providers in Brazil.

The stream will be featured on our website on 31 October between 1–2 pm (CET) via https://www.hiig.de/en/events/data-protection-and-regulation-in-brazil-lunch-talk-with-clara-iglesias-keller/ or you can join us via twitter @hiig_berlin or periscope: https://www.pscp.tv/hiig_berlin

About the topic:
Last July, the Brazilian government sanctioned its new Data Protection Law (Law 13.709/2019), after almost a decade of debates in parliament. Albeit mirroring the GDPR’s structure and many of its provisions, the bill has its peculiarities and faces its own challenges regarding implementation. This talk aims to address these aspects in the context the country’s approach towards intermediary regulation.

Best regards
Juliane
