Hi Luca: two quick info that might help answering your questions.
The list for members of the NoC is the "network" list and not this one, which is the "netsociety". This list encompasses a larger group outside the NoC. So please refer to the "network" list for all information related to the organization of the NoC.
Second, as you know, since October last year we have created an Executive Committee (EC) to handle the organization of the network. This Executive Committee replaced the previous Steering Committee in the current coordination activities. You can find the summaries of our meetings in the emails of October 25th, 2016 and February 20th, 2017 there in the network list. The annual event is also mentioned as part of the NoC roadmap for 2017-2108. Please refer to our email of February 20th, 2017 about it.
For the preparation of the annual event (and future activities of the NoC) we have sent an important Yearly Update to all centers. It looks like you guys have not responded (even after we have exchanged some emails about it). So please feel free to write to us directly and we can update your contact information as to make sure that you are getting the NoC communication.
The EC is finalizing a first draft of the event and we will share it in the list as soon as it is ready for a round of comments and suggestions from the whole network.
Looking forward to catch up soon.Best,Carlos_______________________________________________2017-07-15 11:13 GMT-03:00 Luca Belli <luca.belli@fgv.br>:Dear Celina,
Thank you for your email but I fear my question is still unanswered.
I know that I replied to your invitation to the conference saying that there will be 4 people form CTS but that is not really the object of my enquiry.
Both your invitation and the NoC website state the event is a NoC conference organised on behalf of the NoC. This means the conference has been discussed on this list and/or the NoC-steering list but, as I mentioned in my previous email, I cannot find any email concerning such discussion, in my inbox. Therefore, I would be very grateful if you could share a summary of the previous discussions.
I hope my clarification is helpful and I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks and have a lovely weekend,
Luca

Hi Luca,
Thank you very much for writing. More details about the conference program will follow shortly. As we have discussed by email, we have confirmed the participation of four attendees from CTS at the event.
Also, we take this opportunity to remind everyone to RSVP if you would like to attend the conference. For that, please send a message to the organizers: arshaw@cyber.harvard.edu and celina@itsrio.org
Hope to see many of you in November.
Best regards,
Celina Bottino

Dear colleagues,
I have received an invitation to the NoC conference that will be held in November at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro. (see below)
I applaud the initiative to revive the NoC with a conference and I would like to know how NoC members can participate to the definition of the programme of this NoC event.
I have been travelling a lot over the past two months and I fear I have missed the emails regarding the organisation of this NoC conference. I would be very grateful if anyone could circulate a summary of the previous discussions held on this list.
I would also like to offer the full availability of CTS to cooperate with the other NoC members in the organisation of this NoC event.
Best regards
Luca
Artificial Intelligence and Inclusion Symposium
On 27 Jun, 2017 By Victor Vicente
Five years after an inaugural Symposium focused on structural changes and tipping points of Internet-driven developments, the Global Network of Internet and Society Research Centers (NoC) is invited to reunite as a growing global community of almost 80 Centers and meet from November 8-10, 2017 in Rio de Janeiro to identify, explore, and address the opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence as we seek to build a better, more inclusive, and diverse world together. The event, co-hosted on behalf of the NoC by the Institute for Technology and Society of Rio de Janeiro (ITS Rio) and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and part of the Ethics and Governance of AI initiative, will bring together representatives from the NoC Centers from around the globe as well as invited guests and collaborators from advocacy, philanthropy, media, policy, and industry to address both the opportunities and challenges of AI-based technologies through the lens of inclusion, broadly conceived. If you are a Network of Centers member, or are interested in learning more about the symposium, please email inclusionsymposium@eon.law.harvard.edu.
